Park the Stress master thesis project

Project of a spa in Berlin, Germany architecture & visualization by Kyrylo Sledz supervisors Joris Fach, Roger Bundschuh

Project Description The spa was designed for visitors to luxuriate and rediscover the ancient benefits of bathing. The combinations of light and shade, open and enclosed spaces and linear elements make for a highly sensuous and restorative experience. The idea of spa was to create a form of cave or quarry like structure. The space of the spa is organized around main core, which connects all swimming pools, three indoor and one outdoor pool. Basement level of parking is sunk, creating Olympic swimming pool with columns going through. The building’s main access is via a “tunnel” from the street, serving as a transition that prepares the visitor to experience the space of the spa.

Parking is in the smallest district of Berlin - Schoenberg, located just between the luxurious Wilmersdorf and the trendy Kreuzberg. Here multicultural groups of people live and have a very extravagant lifestyle.

Parking is on Kalckreuthstrasse 3. It is currently operating and it has 530 parking spots at 8 levels. Parking currently has only 40% efficiency rate.

Museum of Contemporary Art master thesis

Project of a museum of contemporary art in Lviv, Ukraine architecture & visualization by Kyrylo Sledz supervisor Bohdan Posatskyy

Project Description Lviv has a large number of museums that are concentrated in the center of the city and most of them just focus on the history of the city and culture. Therefore, the proposed new museum was decided to move away from the center and focus on contemporary art. After analyzing the list of potential areas for building a new cultural center on the periphery of the city, one site stood out - the abandoned wine factory in the park of Pohulyanka. In the post-soviet period, a large number of industrial buildings ceased their operations. These abandoned buildings could easily be reused for new functions. Therefore, the old wine factory would be perfect site for the new museum of contemporary art for the city of Lviv. The new museum will consists of refurbished old soviet buildings and a modern structure that rests on top of it, symbolically showing the connection between the past and the future.

Project Description A project of a conversion of the former industrial Swissmetal Areal into a new quarter for the combination of living and working in Dornach, Switzerland. The area has been in use for industrial purposes for over 100 years. The project is developing an urban planning vision for the future for the area concerning its public and private spaces, building clusters and mix of uses. Most of the existing buildings are kept and the function is changed to living or working needs. The shape due to the emphasis on the main entrance of the building

Silhouette of the building is not overrides view from the existing terrace of the St. Olga and Elizabeth`s church, but also enriches the view by adding a park on the foreground, which is located on the roof of a new office building.

For lighting rooms, which are located in depth of the office building, light-lanterns carves from the roof-terrace to first and second floors, which simultaneously collects water for later use

To maximize the energy efficiency of the building, one side is cut to catch the rays of the southern sun It also protects the offices from overheating

Recommendation Kyrylo Sledz

To whom it may concern, Kyrylo Sledz has been a full time student of the two-year master program at DIA-Hochschule Anhalt and as such participated in my thesis studio during the winter semester 2017 and summer semester 2018, graduating with a Master of Art in Architecture in July 2018. Right after joining the studio Kyrylo quickly proved his ability to work fast and thoroughly at the same time. His choice of site, analysis of urban context, and overall development of potential programs and functions for his project was put together and decided upon in quick, but informed manner. This allowed Kyrylo to move swiftly into design. Starting with a strong initial idea, a cave-like and largely interiorized design that left the exterior largely untouched, Kyrylo systematically worked through a number of options, arriving at a rather calm, wellorganized, and sensible proposal. His drawings and graphics thereby underlined this overall calm, by being well-proportioned and -considered. The corresponding models and renderings finally showed the interior ambience very appropriately, equipping the project with a sensitive material definition and Kyrylo with a complete set of architectural media that are of high quality through and through. His ability to work and model architectural spaces very fast and very precisely sometimes bore the risk to jump to detailed design solutions rather quickly. However, Kyrylo was always prepared to discuss his conclusions and remained remarkably open to constructive criticism or alternative ideas at all times and successfully integrated them to the advantage of his project. With a pragmatic mind-set and goal-oriented way of working Kyrylo is a highly professional young graduate. Personally, Kyrylo Sledz has been a pleasure to work with and in that sense, too, has been a valuable member of my studio. Should you have any further questions concerning Kyrylo I shall be happy to underline my recommendation personally. Berlin, 04. July 2018
