INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT SENTUL 11.05.2020
Sentul is an inevitable town - myriad and dispersed and yet suffers not from any distraught and all that monetizing that goes on outside their perimeter - among others residential towers which manifest wealth but indeed poverty - and a apparently busy neighbourhood - but only busy with buying and consuming. So it is the interest of our students of architecture to seek out their opportunity to preserve if not to improve the current scenario - largely a community thriving on real wealth vis a vis small farming that goes on in ones back yard and some retail which finally makes sense - goods that matter - toothbrush and rice for instance. The network that we aim to introduce comprise elevated walkways and links that work with transport network which already exists. parcels of land which begs for design are incorporated - we also rely on mosques temples and hawker stalls to add vigor to the scheme- and we are shameless about how dirty the water is or how unkempt all the vegetation that goes on around sentul.
Programmatically we will have studied mind maps of various project students - illustrating together reflections on great writing and study by people as remote as stephen kellert or dr gordon pask or rudolf steiner. yet we are certain altogether as a masterplan the character of sentul which is not their aesthetic but the social schema of the various proposals that will uphold the dignity do this community. Nodes and junctions and artefacts are expressive as any individual wishes to demarcate - to what extent we see architecture as works of art or mere form making - the act of design has always been to encourage “less anxiety� and to lighten all burdens that students bear in school. here we present the second cut - assuming more detailed understanding of the original brief and sustaining a learning process that respond faithfully to the task in hand but not slaved by method or form.
