PHYSIOTHERAPY

PHYSIOTHERAPY Physiotherapists are professionals working in the NHS, private and charitable organisations. They use clinical reasoning skills and knowledge to aid in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of patients with acute and chronic conditions at all ages. Physiotherapy at York St John University offers the advantage of studying in a small cohort within a student-centred environment, taught by a staff team with considerable clinical experience. This programme aims to produce high calibre, successful Physiotherapy graduates who are fit for purpose and practice in modern healthcare settings.

DEVELOPING PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE The professional practice element of learning is integral to the programme and an essential component of your development.

100% of 2017 graduates from our Physiotherapy course were in professional jobs or further study after six months. (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey 2017)

Professional practice provides opportunities to demonstrate your ability to use knowledge, skills and information and show progress in applying it through your participation in the workplace. It facilitates the transition from student to competent therapist by providing scope for reasoning and reflection in the practice environment that complements and extends your academic studies. You will be required to complete a minimum of 1,000 hours of professional practice education to fulfil the statutory and professional requirements of the course. A variety of placement opportunities are available to ensure competence in a range of health and social care settings. There are opportunities for you to undertake an international placement as part of your professional practice.
