At York St John, we take our responsibilities to the local community, environment, and wider world seriously. Our courses engage you in debates about current issues, and involve you in our impactful research. You can make a difference in our local community through various projects and schemes (see page 8). Our Institute for Social Justice works with people, partners and communities to address the inequalities facing society today, while York Business School’s promotion of responsible business practice has been recognised with the Social Enterprise Gold Mark.

York is rich in history, heritage and culture, and studying here is sure to inspire you. It’s a great city to live in as a student. There are festivals and events throughout the year, and endless options for eating, socialising and having fun. There are also opportunities for part time work to bring in some extra money and gain experience. Our campus is near to the city centre and is the focus of significant investment, with outstanding specialist facilities.
