Be part of our York English as an Additional Language (EAL) voluntary initiative, working with EAL pupils in local schools to help improve their English. Join our Japanese Society or Taiko Drumming to immerse yourself in Japanese culture. Practice your British Sign Language communication at our Sign Bar or raise money for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. Our staff members are active researchers. It informs their teaching and puts you at the cutting edge of language learning and analysis. Gain research experience and work alongside your tutors with our Students as Researchers scheme. Many of our courses allow you to experience a new culture by studying abroad. It’s an experience you will never forget and a great way to apply your learning.
