Our Counselling and Mental Health course places an emphasis on helping others while also providing an extensive look at theories and models. In weekly skills sessions, our experienced counsellors and coaches will help you develop your practical skills, and professional placements on every year of the course allow you to apply these skills. You will learn how to make a real difference to people’s lives.

We will teach you how to nurture your unique talents, clarify your ambitions and realise your potential. With us, you will discover yourself. We will help you to open doors to a variety of job roles or further study. Counselling isn’t the only graduate destination; our graduates also work in mental health nursing, social work, education, youth work and more.

We offer courses in this subject area: Psychology

Our courses cover all aspects of psychological science, including human cognition, cognitive neuroscience, social psychology, and clinical and forensic applications. You can also follow specialist pathways in child psychology or counselling psychology. Our academic staff are active researchers, with a range of specialisms including memory and language, body image and bullying, social influence and psychopathology. Their research informs their teaching, so you will learn about contemporary advances in the field and develop the skills to conduct your own research. You will have access to specialist laboratories and equipment including EEG, virtual reality headsets and eye trackers.
