"When I first met the artists of the L1 Association at the International Dance Exhibition in Düsseldorf, in 2012, I was impressed by the determination with which the members and the leadership of the association represent the collaboration of the independent Hungarian dancers, visual artists and composers. While working in a frame of a socially engaged association, their goal is to find opportunities inside and outside their country, to build a lively organism that is constantly in contact with foreign institutions – this is a concept to be supported. They do it with conviction in order that the Hungarian artists find their way inside and outside of the country and that they could spread the reputation of the multicolored Hungarian culture as contemporary artists. On the occasion of our first collaboration, the artists of the association shot a dance film and presented a street dance performance in Palma de Mallorca, I could verify and see that they are careful and attentive, curious about other cultures as well, and last but not least that they have a reliable, long-term thinking mentality. In 2013 I had the pleasure to be invited as a foreign organizer of the fiveday-long L1danceFest, therefore I was able to follow through the programs of the festival and all accompanying events. The totality of the professional organization, the smooth communication, the broad thinking between arts and countries and the high quality of the invited performances were very impressive. I was very pleased to see that other international organizations and embassies have been supporting this great event and organization. Knowing that this thirteen-year-old festival is set up on a voluntary basis by the organizing team, I find their work exciting and worth to be supported, I recommend it to your attention as well. Az 1998-ban létrejött és 2002-ben hivatalosan megalapított, kezdetben főleg független magyar táncművészeket tömörítő L1 Egyesület egyik alapvető célkitűzése a kortárs tánc népszerűsítése – külföldi és magyar produkciók és koprodukciók létrejöttének elősegítése, valamint tehetséges művészek munkáinak bemutatása révén. Az L1 Kortárs Táncfesztivál (új nevén L1danceFest) az egyesület legjelentősebb, évente megrendezésre kerülő eseménye az elmúlt időszak során fokozatosan alakult át egy egyre szélesebb földrajzi és előadó-művészeti spektrumot felölelő nemzetközi szemlévé, mely már nem csupán az L1-tagoknak és rezidens művészeknek kínál bemutatkozási lehetőséget, hanem elsősorban neves külföldi fellépők munkáit igyekszik megismertetni a magyar közönséggel. Szabó Roland (SK/CZ) L1-portrésorozat fotókiállítás / L1 portrait serie KAPTÁR Közösségi Iroda

www.rolandszabo.cz Roland Szabo is a Hungarian photographer from Slovakia. He studied photography in Bratislava and continued his work by opening his own studio in Prague. He deals with photo and smaller film projects. In 2011-12, he prepared the portraits of the Prague National Theatre Ballet’s professionals and of other Czech artists. Since 2011 he is the organizer of amateur short film project called Kino Praha. He met the representative of the L1 Association also in Prague, and in 2013 he was the official photographer of the events of L1danceFest. In 2014, continuing the cooperation, he created a portrait series of the residents and the members of the L1 Association. This series is presented at this year’s exhibition of L1danceFest. His favorite topics: portrait, fashion and dance.

Szabó Roland szlovákiai magyar fotóművész. Tanulmányait a pozsonyi évek alatt fotográfia szakon végezte, majd Prágában folytatta munkáját saját stúdiót nyitva. Fotó- és kisebb film-projektekkel foglalkozik. 2011—12-ben a Prágai Nemzeti Színház balett-társulatának és más cseh művészeknek készítette el a portréit. 2011 óta szervezője a Kino Praha nevű amatőr rövidfilmes projektnek. Az L1 Egyesület képviselőjével is Prágában találkozott, majd 2013-ban hivatalos fotósa volt az L1danceFest eseményeinek. 2014-ben az együttműködés folytatásaként az L1 Egyesület tagjait és rezidenseit bemutató portrésorozatot készített, amit az ez évi L1danceFest alkalmával kiállítás formájában mutatunk be. Kedvenc témakörei: portré, divat, tánc.

Uri Shafir (1983) — dancer, actor, and performance maker. Graduate of Yigal Alon High School of Arts, and MASPA (Matteh Asher School of Performing Arts in Kibbutz Ga'aton). As an actor he participated in different plays in Habima Theatre, Beit Lessin theatre and independent fringe productions. As a dancer he worked in Batsheva Ensemble (2007—2010) and with various Israeli choreographers like Dana Ruttenberg, Niv Sheinfeld & Oren Laor, Renana Raz, Maya Levy & Anando Mars. He is teaching Gaga (Ohad Naharin's Movement Langauge) in Israel and abroad.

www.frissek.wordpress.com Lengyel Katalin, a projekt ötletgazdája és művészeti vezetője 2011 novemberében rendezte meg az első Frissek Minifesztivált, amit azóta további alkalmak követtek. Az estekre különböző művészeti ágakból hív meg fellépőket egy-egy rövid (tízperces) bemutatkozásra. A Minifesztivál, az L1danceFest keretében, már 3. alkalommal kerül megrendezésre, ezzel is lehetőséget biztosítva arra, hogy újabb meghívott előadók legfrissebb ötleteit láthassuk. A tizedik Minifesztivál külünlegessége, hogy a fellépők az L1 Egyesület rezidens művészei és tagjai közül kerülnek ki, és először külföldi meghívottja is van. Katalin Lengyel, initiator and artistic director of Frissek Minifestival, organized the event for the first time in November 2011, which then was followed by more occasions. She invites emerging representatives of different art fields for a short (10-minute) performance. The Minifestival has already been organized for the third time in the frame of L1danceFest, which gives us the possibility to see newly invited artists and their freshest ideas. The speciality of the 10th Minifestival is that all of the invited artists are members or resident artists of L1 Association and for the first time ever we present international artists as well.

Lukáš Karásek Különleges pillanat volt, amikor elkezdtem színházat csinálni. Ostravában történt, a középiskolában. A középiskola vége felé felvettek a fizikai színházi szakra a Janáček Zenei és Előadó-művészeti Akadémiára, Brno városába. Három évig tanultam Pierre Nadaud kezei alatt, az ő tanítási módszerének hála sok módját megtanultam a színházcsinálásnak. Hivatásos művészeket hívott Brnóba, olyanokat, mint Karine Ponties (Dame de Pic), Aleš Janák és Irina Andreeva (Teatr Novogo Fronta) vagy a fizikai költő, Petr Váša. It was a special moment when I started photo: Petr Chodura playing theatre. It was in high school in Ostrava. The high school was nearing its end and I was accepted to Department of Physical Theater on Janáček Academy of music and performing arts in Brno. My three years of studies were led by Pierre Nadaud. Thanks to his way of teaching I got to know many ways of doing theatre. For us he invited professional artists to Brno such as Karine Ponties (Dame de Pic), Aleš Janák and Irina Andreeva (Teatr Novogo Fronta) or physical poet Petr Váša. I have graduated from the academy and now I am a freelancer. I have met Florent Golfier and we made a physical theater duet.

Ladjánszki Márta (H) UNTITLED a meditation in one act 20:30 | MU Színház Egy férfit látunk a színpadon, érzékeny és érzéki, önmagát kereső formákban, őszinte mozgásstruktúrában. És bár a kiindulópontunk nem egy fix történet volt, mégis a férfi karakter életre kel és mesél saját múltjáról. Ezt az utat nagyon érzékenyen követi, inspirálja, szövetét plasztikussá teszi a zene, amit Varga Zsolt (szinte minden próbát végigkövetve) dolgozott ki, valamint a fény, amit Tomáš Morávek alkotott (immár harmadik alkalommal). We see a man on stage, in sensitive and sensual, selfseeking forms, in a sincere movement structure. Although our starting point was not a fixed story, the male character comes to life and tells about his own past. This path is very sensitively followed, inspired, plasticized by the music that Zsolt Varga elaborated (by following almost all the rehearsals) and by the light that Tomáš Morávek created (for the third time to my performances). www.martaatwork.com

Since 2001 Márta Ladjánszki has been the artistic director of L1 Independent Artists Association of Public Utility. In recent years she started to collaborate with independent artists and created group pieces as well. Her interest is the body and its physical limits using live music and visuality.

Ruri Mitoh (J) ESQUISSE 21:30 | MU Színház

Mint a víz, a kő, a rovar vagy a növény. Sír, mosolyog és dühbe gurul. Megfigyelem, hogy mi történik a testemmel. Hol van a lábfej és hol van a kéz? Mi van az arccal? Van ott arc? Milyen kifejezés jelenik meg rajta most? Rajzolok, törlök és/ vagy megrajzolom ezeket a napokat. Amikor 2013-ban elkezdtem ezt a projektet, el kellett döntenem, milyen címet adok neki. Rátaláltam a művészetben használt „esquisse” szóra. Papírra készített ceruzavázlatot jelent. Csiszolatlan. Like water, a stone, an insect or a plant. It cries, smiles and get angry. I observe what's happening in my body. Where is the foot and where is the hand? What about the face? Is there a face? What kind of expression does it show now? I draw, erase and|or trace these days. I had to decide on the title when I started this project in 2013. I found the word “esquisse” in terms of art. It means: pencil sketch on paper. It's rough.

Ruri Mitoh Tokióban született 1982-ben. Ötéves korában kezdett el táncolni a Modern Balett Intézetben és táncot tanult a Japán Női Testnevelési Főiskolán, a mozdulattudomány-tánctanulmányok mesterszakon (2000-2004). Jelenleg nemcsak Japánban, de szerte a világban is aktív. Ruri Mitoh was born in Tokyo in 1982. She started dancing when she was 5 years old at the Modern Ballet Institute and studied dance at the Japanese Women's College of Physical Education, Department of Movement Science Dance Studies Major MA (2000-2004). She is now active in not only Japan but everywhere in the world.

Vava Ştefănescu is choreographer and dancer, living and working in Romania. Has had numerous grants and artistic residencies. She has signed the choreography of more than 25 theatre performances, in some of them being also a performer. Founder and director (1999-2003) of Multi Art Dance Centre (MAD). Between 2006-2013 she was artistic director of the National Dance Centre Bucharest; currently she is general manager of National Dance Center Bucharest.

Herold Eszter (1981, H) Az ELTE BTK és PPK szakjain szerzett magyar, német és drámapedagógusi diplomát. Tánccal, mozgással 17 éves kora óta foglalkozik. Az L1 Egyesületnek 2013-ban rezidense, 2014-től tagja. 2013 őszén elnyerte a prágai Duncan Center ﬁatal koreográfusoknak járó Jarmila Jeřábková-díját. Herold Eszter (1981, H) She earned her diplomas in Hungarian and German language and literature and in dramapedagogy. She started to dance 17 years ago. She was a resident artist of L1 Association 2013, from 2014 she is a member of the team. Her choreographic work has been honoured in the autumn of 2013 by the Jarmila Jeřábková Award, an international prize founded by Duncan Centre Prague and is given to young and talented choreographers.

Az „an hour of” nem táncelőadás a szó szoros értelmében, hanem a sporthoz hasonlítható. Atlétának lenni annyit jelent, hogy a határ felé tolod magad, hogy mentális és fizikai gátakon egyaránt felülemelkedsz. A három legfontosabb fogalom az összpontosítás, az élvezet és egy történet. “an hour of” is not a dance performance per se, it could be compared to sports. Being an athlete is about pushing yourself to your limit, it’s about overcoming both mental and physical hurdles. The three most important concepts are concentration, you and a story. www.stu.ee

kadrinoormets (1988) Szabadúszó előadó és író. Az „an hour of” egy egy órás akadályfutás, ahol minden váltóbot megvan a kezdő vonalnál, mégsincs egyetlen, a végpontra utaló célzás sem. Fizikai memória a tájfutáshoz, jelenlét a túléléshez. Mintha a nyertes nem lenne annyira megjósolható, sokan vannak közülünk a pályán. De mivel ennek semmi köze a versengéshez, magunkhoz képest mérünk. After graduating from Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy, she worked with dance companies Hodworks, The Symptoms and danced in the works of choreographers Andrea Nagy and Márta Ladjánszki. She created a solo to the music of Linda Tabbouch (I.O.N.) and won a scholarship to DÉPARTS Research into the Unknown program in 2009. She is a regular creative partner of László Fülöp dancer, choreographer. Anna was an L1 resident artist in 2014.

az I.M! program keretében Ben J. Riepe a Folkwang-Hochschule-ben, Essenben tanult táncot és koreográfiát. Diplomája megszerzése után táncosként dolgozott Pina Bausch-nál és VA Wölfl / NEUER TANZ-nál. Azon kívül, hogy folyamatosan dolgozik a 2004-ben alapított együttesével, vendégkoreográfusként és tanárként is tevékenykedik. 2007-ben maláj művészekkel készített egy táncprodukciót a Goethe Intézet számára, Kuala Lumpurban. Eredetileg táncos képzettséggel rendelkezem, de a vizuális művészetek és az előadóművészetek közé helyezem az alkotásaimat. Éppen azért mélyen érdeklődöm a test különböző szerepei között kialakuló csomópontok iránt; az eszközként, tárgyként, élő műtárgyként vagy emberként létező test egymást metszőpontjai iránt. Hillel Kogan was awarded "Outstanding Creator of 2013" for his work "We Love Arabs", by the Israeli Dance Critics Circle. Hillel Kogan 1974-ben született. A Barsheva Ensemble-ben, a svájci Group Nomads-ben, a portugáliai Gulbenkian Ballett-ben eltöltött táncos karrierje alatt táncegyüttesek és fesztiválok számára készített munkákat Izraelben és külföldön. Hillel Ohad Naharin asszisztense, és a Batsheva Ensemble-ben próbavezetőként dolgozik.

A Simulante Bande-ban a VerTeDance újszerű kifejezési módokat keres ép és mozgássérült személyek együttműködéséből létrejövő mozdulatokon alapulva. Az volt a céljuk, hogy legalább egy kis részét megragadják annak a meglepően széles skálájú problémahalmaznak, amivel a mozgássérült emberek minden nap találkoznak, miközben „normális” életet igyekeznek élni. In Simulante Bande, VerTeDance explore original ways of expression through movement based on the cooperation of a healthy and a physically disabled person. They have aimed to tackle at least a small part of the unexpectedly wide range of problems which disabled people face every day in an effort to lead a “normal” life. The dance group VerTeDance has been acting on the Czech dance scene since 2004. The members are Veronika Kotlíková and Tereza Ondrová (awarded by the prize The Dancer of the Year 2010), dancers, choreographers, and pedagogues, and Pavel Kotlík, a light designer and technical director of the Ponec Theatre. VerTeDance is the only Czech dance group to be awarded twice by the most prestigious award in the field of contemporary dance – the Dance Piece of the Year prize.
