Issue The proposed building is placed in between two existing buildings. It is important to integrate the proposed and existing buildings, culturally and technically. Only through this way, the public awareness will be raised toward heritage preservation.
Concept Inspired by Chinese classic story 'Gao Shan Liu Shui', the flowing curves, which mimic the ups and downs of the mountain in vertical space and flowing water in horizontal space, are more helpful to create free space to get a perfect view of the traditional drama performance in the center courtyard and the existing buildings.

Strategy
The interaction between the proposed and existing buildings -Center courtyard In order to leave a big courtyard in the center, the rooms are placed around the premise of the site. The courtyard then would naturally engage a dialogue fed by the emergence of cinematic function. The semi-circular courtyard also widen the viewing perspective from the crowd. 3
-Amphitheater The Chinese traditional performance that took place in the center courtyard such as shadow play, is anticipated to attract more viewers to enjoy the performance.
Inward compresse space as much as possible.
4
Add public space around the site.

In between the existing and proposed buildings The traditional performance will take place near the existing building while the high-tech film is projected in the screening room or IMAX hall. A semi-circular stage and a moon-shaped courtyard connect the existing and proposed buildings, attracting more people to participate in the dialogue between tradition and modernity. The traditional performance is not only a recreational activity, but also a cultural way of protecting the existing buildings through raising public awareness.

Talk in the Afternoon, Photographed by Ho Fan
Inspiration
Inspired by Ho Fan, the Hong Kong famous photographer who was good at capturing the moment of light and shade changes, recording the lives of ordinary people in the metropolis as well as the unique flavor of life in Hong Kong. I hope to use the architectural method to show Hong Kong residents' real life, creating more interaction between people and building.
Theatre of life
The building is an unique theatre which consistantly reflects every moment of real life. Within the building, each visitor is a performer as well as an audience; one inside and also outside. Passerby walking on the street, could see the performance of real life carried out by people inside who at the same time watching the movie screening.

Scene: entrance Actor: residents Time: night
Scene: the lane behind the building Actor: residents, pedlar Time: daytime
Scene: experience zone surrounded by litracon Actor: kids, adults Time: daytime / night
At night, people go back home and they must pass through the long narrow alley which could be boring and unsafe. However, the space is now added beautiful timber structure which lit up the palette of the entire space. It is interesting to begin this journey.
In the morning, residents go out for work and pedlars start to prepare breakfast for sale. The litracon facade in the morning looks like normal concrete, which is completely different from it looking at night.
The key space is the experience zone surrounded by litracon. At night, the light pass through the litracon from inside and people outside can watch the 'shadow drama' performed by people inside.

The first projection area is on the second floor and it is used for projecting films as well as holding some lectures about life tips.
The second projection area, which is on the third floor, is the main space used for projecting films. The movie is projected on the projection glass which can make the film be seen by people both inside and outside.
When kids end up the learning in school, this space is prepared for children who forget to bring their keys or they found their parents are not at home. They can play hand shadow game with partners or sit down to watch cartoon movies.
