The Joyce team has remained intact and consistent throughout the transition, allowing our existing leadership to establish, direct, and grow Waste and Recycling services at LaBella. With our staff acclimated and at ease, we’re looking forward to putting LaBella’s deep resources and expertise to work for our clients.
Why is it important to change our name? You may have seen the Joyce Engineering, A LaBella Company logo over the past year, and we certainly could have continued to operate that way for the foreseeable future. However, differentiating Joyce by name isn’t reflecting the exciting integration that’s been happening over the past year. Our team has found opportunity, mentorship, and horsepower with their LaBella colleagues. Both LaBella and Joyce clients are utilizing resources never available to them before. Joyce employees are taking part in the opportunity to join LaBella’s culture of partnership and employee ownership. One brand allows us to communicate the true depth of our expertise.
Does the name change mean that Butch Joyce is stepping away from the company? No, it doesn’t. Butch remains a Vice President of LaBella and is working full time, enthusiastically fulfilling the role of Principal.
butch joyce, full time principal Butch has over 40 years of experience in the waste industry as both an operator and consultant, and his expertise continues to be in high demand. As a result of the Joyce - LaBella partnership, Butch has been able to spend less time on firm ownership and management, and more time doing what he does best: talking to clients on site and off, and helping them improve their business. The role of Principal is a natural fit for Butch’s evolving responsibilities, and he remains committed to the firm full time. Within the office, Butch is focused on mentorship, and you may even see him teaching a Joyce operator training class or two! As a Vice President of LaBella, Butch is enjoying connecting clients to other LaBella services that improve all facets of their communities.

In 2019, Jenny Johnson transitioned from her role as Operations Manager at Joyce Engineering to Director of Waste and Recycling at LaBella. With over 20 years of experience managing day-to-day operations alongside Butch Joyce, Jenny is a passionate advocate for her clients, the environment, and smart problem solving. Jenny’s responsibilities as Director include both fiscal and technical oversight of Waste and Recycling projects and personnel across the LaBella footprint. Off duty, she’s a gifted musician and loves to hike and camp with her husband and two labrador retrievers.

Our operator training program will continue to be IACET accredited and the first choice for professionals in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Our training will continue to evolve based on the needs we see from our consulting work every day, recognizing the need to increase safety, protect the environment, and be fiscally savvy.
