Brown tassel necklace composed of magnesite beads, tortoise shell, Czech Glass beads, and silver plated accents.
How long have you been designing? I have been designing, creating, and at times fabricating jewelry for a little over 9 years. How did The Elegant Relique come to be? When I first started, we were Blue Dragonfly Designs. As I developed my skill design concepts and techniques opened my mind to design concepts that I Incorporated into my work. Some of those pieces had antique components and some looked like they were a part of an archeological dig. I started referring to these pieces as my elegant relics and it became our business name. What's inspires you? Inspiration comes in so many ways. Music always touches my soul. It is also one of my passions. I studied voice for over 20 years. I am also inspired by beautiful works of art, a day in the mountains, color, color, and more color. Often the components inspire the piece! This business can be tough, what motivates you? I am not sure what motivates me, mostly the love of creating art and the desire to create well made strong pieces. Favorite technique? I love making different styles and lines, from simple stringing to hammering on metal and lighting up a torch. I love assemblage, and I love beadwork, so I have combined the two, that would have to be my favorite. You will see woven beaded ropes, with bead embroidery backed with metal or suspended from bone...love it! What's your favorite trend this season? My two favorite trends this season are the long elegant tassel necklaces...you can dress them up or tone them down. I also like the delicate little bracelets that are coming out.... haven't made one yet...but a design is ready to pop out of my brain onto paper soon! How would you describe your style? There is no doubt, I am an eclectic.... I love so many colors, types of music, foods, countries...etc; as a result, you never know what might turn out, but you can bet it will be eclectic and it will be an Elegant Relique! For more of her beautiful creations, be sure to visit her on Facebook and Instagram!
