Eric Byrne TD Keeping in Touch Dear Constituent, They say we Irish love our politics! So let me introduce you to my co-workers, with whom many of you are already familiar. They are amongst the two hardest working colleagues in Leinster House! They work on a wide range of our constituency issues from processing general queries to Parliamentary Questions, research and arranging Dail Visits to Leinster House. Gary Honer

We are often asked to arrange tours of Leinster House and we value people taking time out to see our Democracy in action.

We are delighted to arrange for you to take a tour of Leinster House either for yourself or a few neighbours or friends. If you want to come as a group, if you are a member of a Club or Association or indeed come with your local school we can assist in Group tours as well. You may be aware that most of the political scrutiny of Bills is presented at Committee level and are then passed into legislation by the Dail after the relevant committee has processed the Bill. I am a member of the Joint Committee on European Union Affairs, and the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade. These two committees do not legislate on Bills but instead analyse and debate and make recommendations to Government on the crucial work initiated by, for example, the European Union. This work is done through our Joint Committee on European Union Affairs. The second Committee on which I sit is the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade. The European Affairs Committee examines all the International issues from around the world from issues of terrorism, countries in conflict, from Ukraine to China from Russia to the U.S.A. the Middle East to Africa and countries from all around the world. Both of these Committees work in conjunction with and report to the Minister in charge of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee also deals with Ireland’s overseas Aid and Development programmes of which Irish Aid is the lead agency. Trade matters are shared with other Departments.
