TOP ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE ENTERING SEANAD EIREANN Raised the idea of now introduced Postcodes, with Communications Minister in June 2013. Also working at having the wind turbine distance set back from family homes increased.

Ensured the full restoration of funding to the Roscommon Women's Network. Secured the green light for Cloonakilla National School.

Delivered on the roll out of GP visit cards to all under 6's. Instrumental in achieving medical cards for all cancerpatients under 18 years of age. Also protected the half rate carer's allowance

Received committment from Environment Minister Alan Kelly to have firemen trained to emergency medical technician level.


Asked for and received, positive assurances, from Minister Kathleen Lynch, as to the future of the Rosalie Unit in Castlerea.

Originally proposed the JobsPlus idea to Minister Burton, which has now been implemented.

Fought for the extension of fibre broadband to large provincial towns such as Ballaghaderreen, pictured. Involved in ongoing talks with Minister Ged Nash seeking an Enterprise Centre for Ballaghaderreen. Maintaining crucial links with sporting clubs so as to benefit from sports capital grants and improved funding from sports organisations, such as with John Delaney of the FAI, pictured with Johnny Walsh and myself at Ballinasloe FC.
