€27bn Capital Plan Delivers for Kerry Spring secures funding for Kerry Sports Academy at Tralee I.T. The government is to provide funding of €7.5 million towards the construction of the proposed Kerry Sports Academy planned for the North Campus of Tralee IT under the new Capital Plan. This new international centre of excellence will be home to: ■ UNESCO Chair - Transforming the Lives of People with Disabilities through Physical Education, Sport, Recreation and Fitness ■ CARA - National Centre for Adapted Physical Activity, facilitating people with disabilities ■ Health and Leisure Department of the IT, Tralee ■ Kerry GAA Centre of Excellence ■ Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Sports and recreation are a vital part of life in Kerry and the new academy will be an important resource for everyone in the community involved in sports and recreation and supporting people with disabilities.
Building on Recovery in Kerry The Capital Plan will dramatically improve transports links to the county meaning better access for business and tourism. The main projects invested in include: ■ Funding for Phase 4 of the Dingle Relief Road subject to Planning Permission being granted. ■ Upgrading the N22 Kerry/Cork Road with the Ballyvourney-Macroom By-Pass ■ The Adare By-Pass linking the N21 Kerry to Limerick Road with the M7 Motorway ■ The N69 Shannon-Foynes Road improving road links to North Kerry

Capital Plan delivers better services for families Better Schools The Capital Plan will deliver €3.8 billion in direct funding for primary, secondary, and third level facilities. This will mean more places for children, better and more modern school buildings for them to learn in, and better funding for research at third level.
Better Connectivity Better broadband is vital to the development of local communities throughout Ireland. Better connectivity brings better quality of life and better opportunities for jobs and growth. The Capital Plan is investing significantly to deliver better broadband services.
Better Health Better health services means better facilities for vital treatments for those who need them most. The Capital Plan will provide €450 million funding for improvements to nursing homes, and for the provision of more Primary Care centres.
Better Garda Stations To improve crime prevention and make communities safer, the Capital Plan is investing in new IT systems for Garda Stations, and an extensive modernisation and refurbishment of facilities and buildings.
Better Housing The Capital Plan includes an additional €500 million for social housing projects to boost our €4 billion housing plan. There will also be a major investment in flood relief schemes to protect homes at risk from flooding.
