What will you miss most about Ladue? I will miss the interaction with the students. What advice do you have for students? Get involved in a club or activity. Do you have any plans for retirement? My husband and I are moving to Florida to enjoy the beach and be close to our daughter and son in law.

JULIE BLANK english teacher

What will you miss most about Ladue? For sure the kids. The interaction with them, the stuff that comes up in class that relates to their personal lives that we talk about and get to know each other better. Do you have any plans for retirement that you look forward to? We own an RV, so we’ll do more traveling... I’m in a band, and will definitely be spending more time on music with my husband. And lots of household projects—painting every wall in our house working on the landscaping — stuff like that. What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know? I’ve lived in St. Louis for 26 years but I’m actually from the Chicago area.

MONICA BOWMAN science teacher

What will you miss most about Ladue? I am gonna miss getting students interested in STEM fields. Do you have any plans for retirement that you look forward to? I’m hoping to still encourage students to go into STEM, especially students from diverse backgrounds. I am hoping to maybe possibly finish my PhD, which would be in public health. What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know? I was raised in Puerto Rico, and that I do have a very mixed background, German, Irish is mixed in. I came stateside back in ‘78, and I started 8th grade here in the United States. I am a big nerd, but all of my students know that.

SCOTT CORNWELL

college and career advisor What will you miss most about Ladue? The people. What do you look forward to in retirement? Spontaneity. For the past 51 years, August/September always meant "back to school." This fall, I look forward to not knowing what comes next. What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know? I own property in central Wisconsin - hunting, hiking, cutting a Christmas Tree off of my own land.

CHRISTY LANGFORD

special school district teacher What will you miss most about Ladue? I will miss seeing the wonderful people that I have had the good fortune to work with during my thirteen years at Ladue High School. What do you look forward to in retirement? I am looking forward to spending lots of time with family and friends! (And sleeping past 5am!) My plans for retirement include taking time to enjoy life, work on some projects that I have been putting off, and hopefully doing some traveling with my family. What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know? When I was younger I studied the martial art of Tae Kwon Do achieving the rank of recommended black belt.

RON NEBBITT

supervisory assistant What will you miss most about Ladue? I will miss lecturing in classrooms the most. It gives me great joy to help young minds excel. Do you have any plans for retirement that you look forward to? In retirement, I look forward to visiting my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, in Louisville, KY, San Diego, CL, Madison, WC, and here in Kirkwood. After seeing all my babies, I plan on moving to Jamaica. What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know? A fun fact for me was when I would deliver bags of mini donuts to classes, depending on if the class was quiet, or paying attention to the teacher, or correctly answer a question that I would ask one student pertaining to what is being taught.

JULIE STEPHENSON

special school district teacher What will you miss most about Ladue? The thing I will miss the most about Ladue is the community here, the staff, students are parents, they are all amazing. What do you look forward to in retirement? In retirement I look forward to spending time doing the things I love (cooking, traveling, entertaining), visiting my grandson often and learning new things. I also look forward to not having to adhere to a school calendar. My plan is to enjoy my free time but I will also do some part time work in education. What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know? I love country music.

It’s true, Panorama will be my hardest goodbye of high school. I

cycles, and I can truly say that I loved every minute of it. Every time I’d walk into the publishing lab, my real world worries would slip away and my mind would be occupied with planning our next issue. I want to thank Sarah Kirksey for being the most caring, amazing advisor and for making Panorama such a positive experience. Being on tain: I know that when I look back on high school, my fondest memories will be with Panorama, and I know how deeply I will miss everyone that Panorama has led me to cross paths with. I also want to thank everyone I’ve ever had the privilege of working with, since it’s the stories we get to tell that makes Panorama so special. I’m eternally grateful to my time for giving me some of the best friends and memories I’ll ever know, and I can’t wait to see how our newsmagazine keeps evolving.

math assignment, deciding where I’m going to college or sitting in my scheduling meeting deciding to take Journalism I. It has always been this way, as my poor time management skills never allow me to get anything done at a reasonable hour. So here I sit at my desk, 12:06 a.m., writing my last piece for the Panorama. I never planned on joining the newspaper, let alone being an editor. Not surprisingly, it was a last minute decision. In my freshman year scheduling meeting I found myself with two free electives. Unfortunate-

so I was stuck with Journalism I and II. Back then I was upset about having to take journalism, but now I can’t imagine my high school years without it. Ladue Publications has provided me with opportunities to grow as a journalist as well as a person, allowing me to meet so many incredible people that would have just been faces that I’d pass in the hallways. Although it has created stress (which is usually my fault since I procrastinate), the Panorama has given me memories that I will always carry. this hard to believe since I waited to pick my electives and got stuck with the “worst” ones. Now, as a senior about to leave the Panorama behind, I feel overwhelmed with gratitude that the “best” electives were like family nor enter the room that now feels like home.

Among other things, the people and classes I’ve taken in high school have changed my perspective many times. One of those classes would be ing Journalism I, I was just a writer for Panorama for a year and a half. I originally had planned to just write stories, never really getting involved with the process. But for senior year I wondered “Why not?” and decid-

has really helped me point out mistakes where I otherwise would have glossed over. Also, while I’m still completely inept at design, I like to think I’ve got a better eye for it than when I started this year. I think my favorite part of Panorama is the extent to which students are involved, by which I mean completely — every step is completed by students (with the help of our advisor). I really am thankful for the time I spent with the Panorama, short as it was, and everyone in it. There’s a lot of things about high school I won’t miss. But the Panorama isn’t one of them.

I started Panorama pretty late into my high school career. I took J1 and 2 in my junior year and I really enjoyed it. I liked the laid-back nature of it. It felt like I had a lot of freedom with how I approached assignments. That freedom made me want to continue along this path, so I decided to take Pano. Then came Covid-19. From what I’ve heard, many people’s favorite thing about working on Pano is the communal feeling that the group develops. It’s impossible to replicate the feeling over Zoom. I will admit that at times it was rough. However, despite these drawbacks, Panorama kept me sane this year. Virtual class can be really draining. It’s really easy to lose motiva-

assignments only for them to be turned into the online void. Pano was an exception to that. Everything I did felt like it mattered. There would be consequences if I didn’t get my work done. It felt like I was a part of something greater than my work, which I was. My work was just a small section of something larger. I might be making Pano sound hard and cold, but that is not my intention. In fact everyone else who worked on to help. I am grateful for the experience that working on Pano, even for such a short period, has given me.

Ladue Panorama has been such an important part of my high school experience. From standing on the sidelines at football games to taking thing but boring. I’m excited to continue my newfound love for photography as I progress through college and beyond. To everyone who has played a role in this journey, thank you!
