University Additional Admissions Tests. Candidates for Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine and Law are routinely pre-tested by their prospective universities, but increasingly other faculties pre-assess their candidates.

During the UCAS application process in the Lower and Upper Sixth, information is provided about the tests and relevant deadlines. For those pupils planning to apply for a subject requiring a University Admissions Test, a series of subject-specific support and preparation sessions are provided by school.

Specialist tests taken out of school:

• UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) for details check www.ucat.ac.uk • The National Admissions Test for Law (LNAT) for details check www.lnat.ac.uk

Specialist tests taken in school:

Subject specific tests for some universities, (predominantly Oxford and Cambridge) as well as the BMAT for certain medical courses are taken in school prior to the interview process, usually in early November.

The Test of Mathematics for University Admission is not compulsory; however, a good performance on this test may result in a reduced offer from institutions that accept results.
