It’s finally party time It’s a little later than usual, but Ladysmith Days is finally here. Normally held on the August long weekend, the town-wide celebration kicks off August 12 with a full compliment of fun and activities at Coronation Mall (See page 6-7 for details). The good times continue on Saturday, Aug. 13 and Sunday, Aug. 14. Ladysmith Rotary gets the ball rolling with their pancake breakfast at the Ladysmith and District Credit Union parking lot and First Avenue will be open for business when a massive street market
takes over from Roberts Street to Gatacre. It will be a very memorable weekend for one Ladysmith resident who will be named Citizen of the Year during a ceremony held at 10 a.m. at the Ladysmith and District Credit Union, which will be immediately followed by the Kinsmen Parade. Also new this year will be the Ladysmith Has Talent competition also in the credit union parking lot starting at 2 p.m. Registration is $5 and sign up sheets are available at the chamber of commerce or at the event.
While there are a few new events, you can still expect all your favourites such as the logger sports, free kids’ zone and, of course, the famous fireworks display. Please see our schedules inside and don’t miss out on any of the fun. Ladysmith Days could not happen if it were not for the hard working, dedicated volunteers and community-minded businesses whose aim is to create a memorable event for the entire family. Thanks to all who make the magic happen and have a great time in Ladysmith this weekend.
