LAFD DEVELOPEMNT SERVICES INSPECTOR SAFETY- COVID-19 GUIDELINES MUST BE STRICTLY ENFORCED DURING ALL INSPECTIONS
Contractors, Construction Supervisors, Developers, Job Managers, and anyone else responsible for onsite inspection: The Department is aware this is a difficult time for many of our stakeholders due to the uncertainties of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. We plan to provide the inspections required so that your project may be completed in a timely manner. However, all inspections must be completed in accordance with the COVID-19 Guidelines set forth by Mayor Garcetti, Fire Chief Terrazas, and Fire Marshal Crowley. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to ensure the COVID-19 Guidelines are strictly adhered to while the Department’s Inspectors and/or LAFD staff is present at the jobsite. Guidelines regarding inspections include the following: Ensure that work is ready to be inspected. This will help to limit exposure time by eliminating unnecessary time spent on the jobsite waiting for work to be performed. Work not ready will result in the Inspector leaving the jobsite immediately. Maintain Social Distancing – No more than 5 person including LAFD staff will be allowed in the area to be inspected and each person must maintain a 6’ distance from others. Ensure that no one onsite is sick or presenting COVID-19 flu-like symptoms, such as cough, fever, sore throat, and difficulty breathing. Ensure that the site is clean and LAFD inspectors do not have to remove debris or other materials to perform the inspection. Inspectors have been informed that they cannot perform an inspection if the COVID-19 Guidelines have not been followed on the jobsite. Inspections cannot take place unless Inspectors have the proper personal protective equipment, including N95 masks. Availability of protective equipment will dictate continued inspections. Inspectors will immediately leave the site and you must reschedule the inspection when the site meets the COVID-19 Guidelines.
