Project Statement
At present, Margate is going into a transition period influenced by cultural and artistic visions. Throughout the last 10 years, the quality of life in Margate has improved considerably and has been becoming a pioneer in a new kind of seaside resort. Due to the excellent roads and train connexions, there has been a drastically increment on visitors who find attractive its seaside, cafes and retro shops with independent character. However it is still far from reaching its full potential.
The physical connectivity of Margate is having a positive impact that contributes to productive creative activity. Low-cost and well-located spaces in the town have proved to conversion to creative studios, such photography studios, furniture manufactures, wall paper painters, recording studios and others artistic activities. These creative enterprises greatly strengthen the social cohesion of Margate and enrich the experience of the visitors. The reuse of these building had a dramatical impact on Margate’s economy in the past 10 years. Due to this fact, Margate has been attracting entrepreneurs creative talents who struggle with the value of time-price square meter in cities such as London. Therefore, Margate invites the growth of innovation, entrepreneurial activities, new cultural and business opportunities. The brief was to design and re-use Margate House. It is based this project in 39-41 High Street, with the aim of transform the building into a more sophisticated style with a viable strategy to ensure social, economic & environmental sustainability. Moreover, I developed an innovative strategy to give a new life and activity to enhance the urban environment in Margate. Margate House is situated in the old town of Margate House is grade II listed building of until 2013 it served as a male clothing shop Margate Central, encouraging them to build a
Margate. It is surrounded by retro shops, its civic proportions. It presents unique and more recently was refurbished by Lana community, through art and new innovative
cafes, and it is located just behind the seaside. It was built around mid 18th century. period features, such as neoclassic features on the façade and a rich history. From 1973 Venzetta who runs art related activities in various buildings of the neighbourhood of technologies.
All of this made me think about how Margate House could become a central engine of the old town of Margate. Extensive research in social, economical and political aspects of Margate led me to the idea to give a simple and smart strategy to implement my design in a way that may last a long term. The idea is to peruse a common development of a philanthropic mindset among refugees and entrepreneurs people. In present times in Western Asia is having political and religious conflicts because of the geopolitical aspects. With that people are leaving their countries, specially in Syria. They are human beings who want an opportunity to grow a new future. On the other hand, entrepreneurs people, are normally young generations with bright ideas that start creative and innovative business. Therefore, giving an attractive space for these two targets, would help create an environment that encourages them to grow together with new inspiration and support. Philanthropy is defined as love for humankind. The purpose is to improve the wellbeing of humankind by preventing and solving social problems. What I would like to achieve is an independent, non-state Social Hub, where people can share their experiences and knowledge, allowing their personal growth, inspiring connections as well as independence. With all these mentioned above, I am in the pursuit of equality, though the values such as respect, tolerance, compassion, ethics, personal growth and myself.
My concept for this particular building is to design a space where people can play, work, learn and have wellbeing activities where workspaces, workshops, and wellbeing activities are constantly carried out, giving the same opportunities to refugees and enterprising people, creating a balance between both. The design is composed by four strong key elements, which are newly designed; the staircase, cylinder, lift and the steps ways. On the ground floor, the public workspace is based, which comprises different spaces where people can work and socialise differently, motivating social innovation. Group work tables, library, brainstorming room, communication room, small cafĂŠ will also be placed on this floor. The first floor is design to have a cooking and English workshops. The second Floor is dedicated to the wellbeing area where there are group counselling and one on one counselling. Moreover, it has a big space for yoga, meditation & relaxation activities. This project has given me the opportunity to research in depth a town who is in the pinnacle of a new period of growth,WW inspiring me to implement a positive revolution and contribution to Margate, which will bring a positive impact in long term future for its people.

The
Isle of Thanet,
lies at the most easterly point of Kent, England. is surrounded by the sea on the northern and eastern sides, along which the chalk cliffs extend, from a little westward of Gore-end on the south, round the eastern side to Cliffend, about a mile and an half south-west beyond Ramsgate.
Historical Context
In
1229, Margate was under jurisdiction of Cinque Ports as a limb of Dover. I was a big valuable economic commerce and social status. Its small fishing port, had some cargo traffic, mainly corn exports, and much smuggling. Margate was to become one of the first English seaside resorts, but it had been little more than a fishing village before the pleasures of sea bathing became popular in the early eighteenth century. The rise in popularity of sea bathing for medicinal purposes started in the 1730s and became fully established in 1752, when Dr. Richard Russell published his book Dissertation on the use of Seawater in the Diseases of the Glands, which advocated both the benefits of sea bathing and the drinking of seawater. In its early days, seabathing was a quick total submersion in the water and was intended as a medical treatment rather than a pleasant experience.
Visitors,
mainly from London, came flocking to the town and its development as a seaside resort followed, with Cecil Square being built in 1767 followed by the Royal Hotel and Assembly Rooms and Hawley Square. By 1800, the town’s population was 4,771. The Royal Sea Bathing Hospital was opened in 1791, when it was believed that sea bathing and sea air were the best cures for tuberculosis. Patients in their beds would be pushed from their wards into the fresh air, and the hospital had a sea-water reservoir so that patients could be bathed in sea water. The sea bathing became more of a pleasurable thing to do and the town was develop rapidly as more and more visitors came to the seaside. The first steam boat arrived in 1815 and this was the first of a long line of steamboats and paddle steamers which served the town.

Old Town has a convolute mediaeval street plan centred on the Mar-
ket Place. Its street pattern provides shelter from northerly winds. It has a healthy mixture of houses, shops, pubs, clubs, galleries, studios and restaurants; all directly facing on to the street. Most of the area is pedestrianized or traffic-calmed. All the premises are ‘independents. Since the early 1970s a series of Council reports, recommendations and initiatives saw the preservation and enhancement of the ‘Margate Old Town’ historic area as key to resurgence in the fortunes of the town as a whole.

In 1973 Burton opened, this was a male clothing shop, but they closed in 2013. Recently refurbished by Lana Venzetta. She is runing art activities, meetings for the locals, encouraging them to build a community, though art & technology.

concept of this project came with the inspiration of the neoclassic motif on the faรงade and the precedents of Carlo Scarpa.
