1. Ocean Beach Pier & Tidepools

This 1,971-foot long concrete pier complete with cafe and bait shop is open to the public for walking and fishing (no permits needed). You can find the tidepools at the foot of Newport Avenue beneath the pier. 2. Farmers Market

Grab your reusable bags and head to the Ocean Beach Farmers Market every Wednesday from 4-8 pm. It's located on the 4900 Block of Newport Avenue between Cable and Bacon streets.

3. Hit the Beach

Ocean Beach boasts nine beaches — busy beach vibes, secluded lounging, surfing-only, swimming-only and dog-friendly beaches. Plus grassy areas for picnics and volleyball.

4. Self-Guided Mural Walk

The mural project was started by a local artist and activist in 1999 as a way to beautify OB. Pick up a map and check out the more than two dozen art-inspired walls around town.

Located between Nimitz and Sunset Cliffs boulevards, this park is a great place for the entire family. Enjoy the gazebo, grassy areas, fly a kite or watch your children play at the playground. Dusty Rhodes also has a fully enclosed off-leash dog park.

Built in 1855, this historic lighthouse is part of the Cabrillo National Monument located at southern tip of Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. After standing watch over the entrance to San Diego Bay for 36 years, the lighthouse was shuttered, but today it shines brightly as a museum. 10. Cabrillo National Monument

Dedicated on Oct. 14, 1913, the Cabrillo National Monument commemorates the 1542 landing of the first European expedition to explore the West Coast of the United States, led by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo.
