resident population in 1992. Last year, 10,583 crimes like homicide, robbery and aggravated assault were reported to local law enforcement agencies, bringing the rate 3.31 per 1,000 resident population, according to the report, "Thirty-Five Years of Crime in the San Diego Region: 1980 Through 2014," released April 22. The regional agency began reporting regional crime statistics in 1980. "These regional statistics show San Diego County has never been a safer place to live than it is today," said Cynthia Burke, the agency's criminal justice research director. The San Diego region saw 11 percent fewer robberies last year compared with 2013, although robberies of banks increased slightly. Ramona had four robberies last year, one less than in 2013. The number of homicides increased from 70 in 2013 to 74 last year, but ofÄJPHSZ ZHPK [OL TVZ[ YLJLU[ YH[L ^HZ [OL third lowest in 35 years. No homicides were reported in Ramona for 2013 or 2014. Murders in the San Diego region peaked at 278 in 1991. The report listed legislation that increased sentences, gang activity task forces and crime prevention programs among possible factors contributing to the drop in crime rates. The property crime rate in San Diego County dropped 17 percent and also hit a 35-year low last year, settling at 18.49 J
per 1,000 resident population. More than 59,000 property crimes were reported last year. Ramona's property crime rate dropped 16 percent, falling to 6.86 per 1,000 resident population. Since 2010, Ramona's property crime rate has decreased 48 percent. Vehicle theft and burglary rates also reached 35-year lows in the region. There were 22 percent fewer burglaries last year compared with 2013. The property stolen on any given day was valued at more than $415,000 and around 20 percent of it was later recovered. Ramona saw about a 50 percent drop in vehicle thefts with 15 cases last year, compared to 34 in 2013. Also down were burglaries with 65 burglaries in 2014, and 94 the previous year. The property recovery rate, however, was down 31 percent. ;OL YLWVY[ ^HZU [ Ă„SSLK VUS` ^P[O good news. Man confronted by deputies shoots self A 57-year-old man fatally shot himself Saturday when he was confronted by deputies sent to a Ramona home to investigate a trespassing report. Deputies were called about 1:40 p.m. to the 600 block of D Street to investigate a call of a male trespassing at a residence, San Diego County sheriff's Lt. John Maryon said. Upon arrival, they encountered the man, who appeared agitated, Maryon said. "As the deputies began to check the male for weapons, he pulled away from

Not only are rattlesnakes a danger to people, they are also a danger to our pets.
Ramona’s rural areas provide a haven for rattlesnakes, and as the weather gets warmer, many of our pets will be in danger of being bitten. The first sign of a bite is usually swelling and pain in the bitten area, even though wounds may not be visible. Dogs are most often bitten on the muzzle or a rear leg, while cats are often bitten on the front leg. Snakebites are a true emergency and you should seek immediate veterinary care for your pet if you suspect it has been bitten. At the time of their examination, the veterinarian will evaluate your pet and offer treatment recommendations which may include fluid therapy, antibiotics, pain management, and Antivenin. Adobe Animal Hospital offers rattlesnake vaccination for dogs that are at high risk for being bitten. For more information on this service, please call us and schedule an appointment with one of our doctors today. trails from Mount Woodson, Dos Picos County Park, Iron Mountain and Lake Poway, and was spurred by businessman Jim Hagey, said Jacob. "He's the one who came to me with this vision," she said. Hagey has long had connections to Ramona as he owns approximately 20 acres behind the Stater Bros. shopping center and hopes to build a town square on a portion of the land. Hagey told the Sentinel his trail plans include a bridge over state Route 67. "This bridge would make it so that you could walk or bike from Iron 4V\U[HPU [V [OL 7HJPÄJ Crest Trail," he said. The connections would also provide a northsouth trail, he added. Jacob said county supervisors have agreed to work with the City of Po-
way and look for funding to buy the land needed for the trail connections. According to the supervisor, there are property owners willing to sell. Jacob also said Hagey has been in touch with Caltrans as the bridge would go over a state highway. Also discussed at the revitalization meeting ^HZ [OL KPMĂ„J\S[` VM ^VYRing with the Ramona Municipal Water District on Park Land Dedication Ordinance projects for Ramona Community Park, which is owned by the water district. Reporting on parks and recreation in the absence of Torry Brean, Dawn Per-
fect said she has met with water district staff and the agency is still unsure what permitting might be required for the projects. The projects were proposed nearly two years ago. Jacob said she would set up a meeting with the water district and project proponents. Other items covered at the meeting: ‹4PJOHLS 3VUN JV\U[` project manager for the San Vicente Road improvements, said onethird of the work is done and the project is on schedule for completion in spring 2016. Jim Piva said there are still design issues with the proposed 13th Street bridge to cross the Santa Maria creek bed. A federal grant is funding the project. Piva said county staff is scheduled to update the planning group on the bridge project at its May 7 meeting. According to the county's Department of Public Works, completion of the bridge design is targeted MVY [OL ÄYZ[ X\HY[LY VM 2018, with construction [V IL ÄUPZOLK PU [OL [OPYK quarter of 2019. Attending the event was Robert Graeff, Ed.D., superintendent for Ramona UniÄLK :JOVVS +PZ[YPJ[ "It's efforts like yours...that makes these kids have the successes that they have," he told the Masons. According to Scott, Masons have been supporting public schools since the 1920s. Worshipful Master Don Martin said one of Santa Maria Lodge's basic goals is to help the community. The lodge raises approximately $6,000 a year for schools and youth organizations, he said. The evening started with a dinner of spaghetti, garlic cheese bread and salad. Beverly Smith said she has been making the meal, with help from others, for seven years, but never knows how many will attend. "I've always made it a policy, nobody goes away from this hungry," said her husband and Mason Bruce Smith.

Bulldog boys clinch Valley League tennis championship By JOE NAIMAN Ramona High School's boys tennis team clinched the Valley League championship April 21, although coach Rose Darrough didn't inform her players of that until the league season ended April 28. "I didn't really announce that to the team," Darrough said. "I want them to play like we haven't." The Bulldogs' April 21
match on the Riviera Oaks courts was a 17-1 victory over Orange Glen, giving Ramona a 5-0 league record. A trip to Valley Center on April 20 resulted in a 12-6 Ramona victory over Valley Center High School. During the season Darrough brought up Chris Cook from the junior varsity team to partner with Alessio Macias, so the Bulldogs have four doubles teams. By JOE NAIMAN Although Ramona High School's baseball team lost its Valley League opener at Fallbrook, the Bulldogs defeated the Warriors in the other two games of that series and then swept Mission Vista in the three league games between the Bulldogs and the Timberwolves. The results gave Ramona a 5-1 record in league play. "That's gone pretty well," said coach Dean Welch. The Bulldogs, who improved to 9-11 overall for the season, face Valley Center in this week's league competition. "We have a critical series against Valley Center," Welch said. "That is what we've been waiting for. I think we're ready." Fallbrook's April 13 win

The April 15 game in Ramona was a 13-4 Bulldogs win over the Warriors and included a seven-run bottom of the second to give the Bulldogs an 8-0 lead. Eight different players scored at least one run for Ramona while six Bulldogs drove in at least one run. The teams returned to Fallbrook April 17, when Ramona was on the winning end of the 17-5 score. Seven runs in the top of the fourth gave the Bulldogs a 14-1 lead. Zach Sherman hit three home runs in the April 17 game. "That was amazing," Welch said.
Sherman became the second Ramona player ever to hit three homers in a game. James Meador homered off Valley Center pitching three times on May 16, 2006. Sherman's offensive success April 17 included four hits, nine runs batted in and four runs scored. Gage Canning also had four hits while John Madday scored four runs. "Those last two games were pretty impressive. Great team effort and hitting up and down the lineup," Welch said. The Bulldogs scored 17 runs April 20 at home against Mission Vista. Nadine grew up in the Clairemont area of San Diego, CA, but as a young adult moved to Ramona to be closer to her family. She worked in the antique business, something she truly enjoyed. She will be truly missed by her loving son, Brian; sister, Christine; brothers, Bob and Steve; and nieces, nephews, family and friends. Her son, Jack Anderson, passed weeks after Nadine. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder's office or a title insurance

If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code.
