Pre-Designed Travel Experiences

All you need to do is choose your own dates and we’ll do the rest. With your private knowledgeable guide and driver, you will become immersed in local culture and learn about its historical significance. The beauty of traveling independently is the flexibility it allows. Interested in things you see along the way and want to make a stop? Or you need longer to read every sign in the museum? Your private local guide will do everything to make sure your experience meets and even exceeds your expectations.

Explore the world in your own style, at your own pace, and on your own schedule. Our knowledgeable experts will create a unique experience to suit your interests and budget. Contact your travel professional or our office for more details.

The programs listed in this brochure can be taken as is – or used as planning for a more expanded tour. You can add two together, include extra nights in the beginning or at the end, or add a new city along the way. Conversely, we are sensitive to your time and budget. We can also shorten these programs and change hotels to suit you.

Your Personal Concierge Experience For a really carefree, stress-free, and worry-free vacation, consider adding a Personal Concierge (PC) to accompany you on your Pre-Designed Travel Experience or on your Custom-Made Journey. One of our expert Lakani Tour Managers will act as your PC and will take care of all of the intricate details of traveling. Wondering how much to tip the driver, local guide, or waiter? Epicurean Delights One of the pleasures of traveling is to taste the cuisine from different cultures. Included meals on a trip can be a convenience, but often isn’t what YOU would have chosen. Lakani believes that your choice is important. While some enjoy gourmet, others prefer more simple fare – or perhaps you desire both! Breakfast is always included to start each day of your vacation. In some locations and lodges meals may be included, but usually you have the freedom and flexibility to experience dining in your own unique way. Indulge in extraordinary service from gourmet, white tablecloth dining; experience local cuisine at a nearby tavern; or have a quiet night with room service. The choice is yours.

Savings In Numbers While the pricing for each Pre-Designed Travel Experience is based on two people, sharing accommodations; there are benefits to traveling with friends and family. For five or more guests traveling together on one itinerary, each member will receive 10% savings on the base price. Consider a family trip with the grandchildren. Traveling together, whether it is to celebrate a momentous occasion, or just because; it is an unforgettable way to create long-lasting memories and cement relationships.

Your Exclusive Travel Club You are automatically enrolled in the exclusive Lakani Travel Club after completing your first Lakani journey. In appreciation for your loyalty, you will receive 5% savings off of subsequent trips, (Private Jet programs excluded). We are confident that once you experience a journey with Lakani – whether it is a Private Jet Tour, a Pre-Designed Travel Experience, or a Custom Made Journey – you will recognize the hallmark of Lakani excellence embedded into every step you take, and yearn to return for many more Lakani vacations.

Lavish Surroundings The Lakani Hotels of Choice are a select group of accommodations chosen explicitly with your supreme luxury and comfort in mind. You can be confident that these hand-picked hotels and lodges are continually monitored; each are selected for their character, five-star service, luxurious facilities, fabulous restaurants and premium location. Wondrous Marvels Relish rich encounters all along the way. Gaze at the prolific wildlife as you soar above the Serengeti, Tanzania or Maasai Mara, Kenya in a beautiful hot air balloon. Safari into the Namib Desert to some of the highest sand dunes on the planet. Tour the Great Barrier Reef and see the extraordinary single structure made by living organisms that can be seen from outer space. Cruise Halong Bay and feast your eyes on thousands of limestone islands rising up from the water. Immerse yourself in hill tribe culture on a visit to villages in Northern Thailand. Observe the remarkable colors of the famed Taj Mahal at sunrise and sunset. Discover the ancient Incan “lost city” of Machu Picchu. Wander through Bilbao’s resplendent Guggenheim Museum and enjoy Gaudi’s work in Barcelona while traveling through Spain. Your vacation should be filled with enjoyable and memorable activities. When you travel with Lakani, let us know what is on your bucket list and we’ll endeavor to make it happen on your luxury journey. You also have the added benefit of enjoying these attractions in the company of expert English speaking guides chosen especially for you.

Voluntourism – Rewarding And Experiential Lakani believes strongly in giving back to the people who open their homes and hearts to show us their special part of the world. For every finalized booking, Lakani World Tours makes a donation to a local non-profit charitable organization. You also have an opportunity to volunteer in some way to help a community while on tour. This may be as simple as providing and serving breakfast to school children to a more substantial commitment of assisting with home-building or repairs. The options are many and depend on the destination and your own particular interests.

Wine Tasting Around The World For the wine enthusiast, there are many opportunities to meet winemakers and tour vineyards around the world. Be sure to sample as often as you can. While in Cape Town, South Africa, venture along the coast to the beautiful Cape Winelands and visit the region’s famous wine estates. South African wine has a history dating back to the 17th century and you’ll find exquisite Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz, as well as Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc in the area.

Families With Children There is nothing like an education on world culture and history while traveling. Children benefit enormously from encounters with people of varying cultures, buildings unlike anything they see at home, and an exploration into traditions that they may only have heard about in stories. Japan is a child-friendly destination and it’s easy to find activities to capture the attention of children of all ages. Explore indoor and outdoor museums, wander through beautiful parks and shrines, learn how to make paper and how to wear a kimono. Then rest your head in a traditional Japanese Ryokan. It promises to be a life-changing adventure for all.

Parc National Des Volcans Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge On arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be met and taken on a scenic 3 hour drive to Parc National des Volcans. The journey north goes through beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga Volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. You will be driven to the magnificent Governors’ Camp Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge, perfectly situated in the foothills of the mighty Virunga Volcanoes. Tracking the gorillas on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. When you reach the gorillas you are allowed to spend an hour with them, and often you will be back in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families however are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is the rainy season. However, falling under the gaze of a great silverback makes any trek seem worth it. Return to the lodge and rest or if arriving back early at the lodge, there are opportunities for bird watching, mountain biking or guided walks around the lodge. Another primate adventure awaits you in the Virunga heartland. Trekking the golden monkey, a subspecies of blue monkey, found only in the bamboo forests of the volcanic mountain chain that forms a part of the boundary between Rwanda and Uganda. Hiking through dense strands of bamboo interspersed with open glades, your guide will lead you to the habitat of groups of “habituated” golden monkeys who have become accustomed to human presence. Time permitting, you can visit local community socio-economic and conservation projects run by SACOLA, the community trust that owns the lodge, and by African Wildlife Foundation and its local partner, the International Gorilla Conservation Program and learn about the exceptional work being done by these organizations. Explore the bustling town of Ruhengeri with its vibrant colorful markets and observe their local handicrafts such as basketwork and pottery.

EASTER ISLAND Amazing Wonders

Easter Island is a magical mysterious place located in a remote area in the southeastern Pacific Ocean some 2,300 miles west of South America. A Chilean territory, Easter Island is a volcanic island known for its intriguing archaeological sites. There are approximately 900 monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui inhabitants during the 10th-16th centuries. In 1995 UNESCO named Easter Island a World Heritage Site, with much of the island protected within Rapa Nui National Park. The moai are carved figures with oversized heads, often resting on massive rock altars. Polynesian people most likely settled on Easter Island sometime between 700 to 1100 AD, and created a thriving and industrious culture as evidenced by the island’s numerous enormous stone moai and other artifacts. By the time of European arrival in 1722, the island’s population had dropped to 2,000–3,000 from an estimated high of approximately 15,000 just a century earlier. European diseases and Peruvian slave raiding in the 1860s further reduced the Rapa Nui population, to a very low number of inhabitants in 1877. Begin your exploration with a stop at Rano Kao, one of three extinct volcanoes on the island whose crater is pocked with over 100 small lakes. Rano Kao was the second of the three volcanoes to erupt about 2.5 million years ago. Growing inside the crater are grapes, bananas, and totora, a reed used extensively for houses, boats and other uses. Visit Rano Raraku, one of the most interesting archaeological sites not only on Easter Island but also in the entire world. Here you can find 396 moai in the quarry, which is an extinct volcano that has an amazing fresh water crater. Some of the statues are still encrusted in the rock of the quarry, never to be moved. Others are in a process of getting their backs finalized and highlighted and some are in the “staging area” waiting for the moving crew to bring the moai to its destined ahu. You will also see the largest moai ever carved, Te Tokanga or El Gigante, which measures a staggering 66 feet and weighs an estimated 220 tons. Continue your drive to Ahu Tongariki, one of the most visually stunning sites on the island. Not only is Tongariki the largest reconstructed site on the island; it is also the largest reconstructed temple in all of Polynesia. The site’s 15 moai were restored in the 1980’s after a huge tsunami came ashore in 1960 and tossed 80-ton moai as far as 1500 feet inland. From the vantage point at Orongo, the curvature of the earth can be seen with an unending vista of the ocean. Orongo was restored in 1974 by William Mulloy, who reconstructed 47 houses, many of which had collapsed or had been torn down by treasure hunters. He also established the first set of trails through the site.
