HOTELS & MOTELS
Southwest Louisiana is a food lover’s dream with hundreds of restaurants to choose from! With succulent crawfish, crabs, gumbo and seafood, our authentic Cajun restaurants will make your mouth water. Traditional Cajun dancing and music thrive at several local restaurants. For those hungry athletes looking for a quick bite to eat, numerous fast food restaurants are located throughout the area and in close proximity to sports facilities. A complimentary dining guide is available at the Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau.
LAKE CHARLES
CREOLE NATURE TRAIL ALL-AMERICAN ROAD Discover one of the nation’s last great wildernesses. Known as Louisiana’s Outback, the 180 mile trail winds through bayous, marshland, national wildlife refuges, and shores along the Gulf of Mexico. It is an amazing blend of man and nature, and a unique opportunity to view Louisiana’s fertile prairies, lush marshes and abundant wildlife. Fish, crab or just view hundreds of bird species, wildflowers and alligators up close and personal!
HISTORIC CHARPENTIER DISTRICT Our past is preserved in the Historic Charpentier District of Victorian homes, placing Lake Charles on the National Registry of Historic Places. Visitors can enjoy a step back in time with a walking or driving tour of one of the finest collections of Victorian architecture in the state, dating from the late 1800s. Since there were no architects in evidence here until the early 1900s, the structures reflect the individual characteristics of the carpenters (charpentiers in French) and builders.
Elegance, history, culture, and beautiful architecture highlight this whirlwind tour of Southwest Louisiana. The area has five delightful museums depicting the history of Imperial Calcasieu including the Mardi Gras Museum with the largest display of Mardi Gras costumes in the South, the Brimstone Museum, the DeQuincy Railroad Museum, the Children’s Museum, and the Imperial Calcasieu Museum. Central School Arts and Humanities Center is located in this district, housing many fine arts including the Black Heritage Gallery as well as the Mardi Gras Museum.
BETTIN’ ON THE BAYOU You will hit the jackpot when visiting Southwest Louisiana, where you can “bet on the bayou!” Experience breathtaking horseracing, live poker, slots, your favorite tables game, luxurious accommodations, fine dining and top-name entertainment. The area has three fabulous casino complexes including L’Auberge du Lac Hotel & Casino Resort, the Isle of Capri Casino & Hotel, and Delta Downs Racetrack Casino & Hotel. Coming in 2009 is Sugarcane Bay Resort & Casino.
SHOPPING With an abundance of national stores, specialty shops, antique shops, outlets, and local boutiques, shopping in Southwest Louisiana is an adventure for the young and the young at heart.

A 40 foot by 60 foot portable stage is great for talent showcases, and the floor load capacity is virtually limitless. The dome over the coliseum peaks 105 feet above 24,000 square feet of floor space. Burton Coliseum is actually two, full-service buildings in one: a domed arena with seating for 6,500, which can be expanded to 8,400 for basketball games; and a 168,000 square foot Livestock and Exhibit Building. The two sections work well together or separately. With permanent stalls and chutes from the Livestock and Exhibit Building, the Coliseum is a superior rodeo arena. A 50,000 square foot, covered arena for livestock activities provides seating for 1,500 spectators. Complete facilities are available for 250 RV units, and 104 spaces are furnished with water and electricity. As an affiliate to McNeese State University, the facility serves as the home venue for various McNeese athletics, graduations
