Hey Everyone, let’s get together and have a good workout with plenty of exercises to build the muscles in a safe effective but challenging way. Get great results while learning proper technique that will improve your physical fitness level and mental awareness of training properly.

Put your body to work! A full body toning workout, emphasizing balance and functional strength for Active Living. Flexible strength will be the focus, utilizing the stability ball, tubing and hand weights. Gain an awareness of proper body alignment and exercise technique while improving core strength, posture and balance. Awaken your muscles form head to toe in a fun and upbeat environment. Barre is inspired by micro movements from ballet, pilates and strength-based fitness classes. PopPilates Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm Location: GESS Community Gym The combination of total body Pilates exercises with the attitude of choreographed dance and the energy of music, results in an intense workout that is fun and effective. Lake Country Walking Club This fun group of walkers are always welcoming new people to join them on their weekly walk, talk and coffee. Meet every Wednesday morning at 9:00am sharp for a 45-60 minute walk, then off to a local coffee shop for those that want to extend their visit. All ages and friendly dogs on leash are welcome! Fitness Classes Flow Yoga (intermediate)

Restorative Yoga

This class begins with breathing exercises and a gentle warm-up. Then we flow through sun salutations and standing postures to build mental focus and generate heat in the body. Depending on the week, we might incorporate gentle core strengtheners or build stability in the upper body, arms and shoulders. Then we settle back onto the ground and allow our selves to sink into restorative postures.

Restorative yoga is a passive yoga that uses props and time (10-15 minute shapes) that allow you to tap into your parasympathetic nervous system to rest, and restore your bodies from busy and stressful lives.

This class is suitable for students who are able to participate in a few rounds of sun salutations and balancing poses. Enjoy a well-rounded yoga class, combining strengthening and stretching, topped off with a short meditation and/or massage. Relax Deeply Restorative Yoga Mondays 6:00-7:15pm Location: Beasley Centre Restorative Yoga focuses on relaxing the body in restful postures that are healthy for the spine and nervous system, supported by bolster pillows and other yoga props. This class will focus on stimulating your parasympathetic nervous system to promote relaxation and deep healing within your body. You will learn of the 43 different types of losses and ways to release what is bound in the body from a life of accumulated loss. Fitness Classes Yin Yoga (Mornings) Mondays 11:30am-12:45pm Location: Beasley Centre Yin Yoga is a style of yoga designed to get deep into your connective tissue and create space in the major joints of the body, as well as stetch your muscle fascia. In this class you will be holding postures for 3 to 5 minutes. Although the postures are relaxing in nature, the stretches are deep. The underlying theme in this yin classes is compassion and honoring one's body. Come ready to meet yourself where you are at and move forward slowly from there. Fencing is a recreational and competitive sport that involves getting a great cardio exercise while improving balance and hand-to-eye coordination. You’ll learn fencing movements and basic sword handling techniques. Anyone at any age or athletic ability can learn to fence, and it is even more fun when done with a friend or family member! Progressive Tennis Wednesdays Location: Woodsdale Tennis Courts

Ages: 6-12 years

This learn to play program identifies 4 skill sets required to play tennis successfully. These are called the "I Can" skill sets. Progressive Tennis uses a system of modified courts, racquets and balls scaled to maximize learning for different levels and/or age groups. Just like many other sports, scaling the game down to the size of the child speeds up the learning process and make the game more fun. All you need to bring is your own racquet, running shoes (no sandals), & water bottle. Loaner racquets are available if required. Three levels are offered: Red Ball (For ages 6+) - Introduces the foundational skills of tennis with an oversized low-compression ball on a smaller court. Players learn basic rally, serve and net play skills along with activities that build tennis-specific coordination. Rules of play and good sport behaviours introduced. Orange Ball (for ages 8+) - Played on a 3/4 size court with a low-compression ball. Players learn how to serve, rally, score and lay at the net. Green Ball (for ages 10+) - Played on full-court with a transition ball. Green players may be older children who are new to tennis or players of a good standard who have progressed through Red & Orange stages. Individual instructor feedback and demonstrations will assist students in developing a realistic or semi-abstract image of their choice with acrylic paint on canvas. Open to all levels. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of colour mixing, blending, layering and glazing techniques to execute a successful composition. Intermediate students will be encouraged to refine their skill and explore new techniques to push the boundaries of their painting practice. Supply list is available at the first class, or bring your own paints and brushes. Please bring a variety of images to work from and a stretched canvas.

This all-day workshop will allow participants to explore various techniques with the fascinating medium of encaustic (wax-based paint). Topics covered include studio safety, iron and stylus techniques, brushwork, accretion and layering. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those who have some experience with encaustics but wish to learn more or gain more experience with a variety of techniques. Participants will have time to practice techniques and complete one painting on panel during this workshop. All encaustic paint and tools will be provided.
