Yin Yoga

Tuesdays 9:00-10:15am Location: Beasley Centre

Mondays 11:30am-12:45pm or Thursday 6:30-7:45pm Location: Beasley Centre

This class begins with breathing exercises and a gentle warm-up. Then we flow through sun salutations and standing postures to build mental focus and generate heat in the body. Depending on the week, we might incorporate gentle core strengtheners or build stability in the upper body, arms and shoulders. Then we settle back onto the ground and allow our selves to sink into restorative postures. This class is suitable for students who are able to participate in a few rounds of sun salutations and balancing poses. Enjoy a well-rounded yoga class, combining strengthening and stretching, topped off with a short meditation and/or massage.

Yin is a style of yoga designed to get deep into your connective tissue and create space in the major joints of the body, as well as stretch your muscle fascia. In this class you will be in postures for 3 to 5 minutes. Although the postures are relaxing in nature, the stretches are deep. The underlying theme in this yin class is compassion and honoring one's body. Come ready to meet yourself where you are at and move forward slowly from there.

Instructor: Eva Hartmann

Christina Aaron has been teaching yoga since 2014. She is passionate about sharing Yin and Restorative yoga practices, which she has found to be transformative in her own life. She also holds a Children’s Yoga certification and is teaching our Kids Yoga sessions again this spring.
