ACADEMIC ENGLISH PROGRAM (AEP) T O
13 WEEKS PER LEVEL / 25 HOURS PER WEEK INTENSIVE ACADEMIC ENGLISH PROGRAM (IAEP) T O
9 WEEKS COMPRESSED SUMMER PROGRAM / 36 HOURS PER WEEK OVERALL IELTS SCORE OF 6.0 REQUIRED (NO INDIVIDUAL SCORE BELOW 6.0)
The Academic English Programs (AEP & IAEP) are designed to prepare students for future academic studies. If you do not meet the English language requirements for the academic program you have applied for, but meet all the other admission requirements, you may be admitted to your academic program on the condition of completing either the AEP or IAEP. lakeheadu.ca/aep
IELTS PREPARATORY COURSE & TESTING T
4 WEEKS
Our IELTS Preparatory Course has 40 hours of instruction, offered intensively over two weeks or spread out over a four-week period. You will learn how to write the IELTS exam both effectively and successfully through in-class instruction, labs, and a unique IELTS online practice program new to Canada. Following the Preparatory Course, you may write the General or Academic IELTS exam at Lakehead University as well. lakeheadu.ca/ielts-testing-centre
VISITING INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROGRAM (VIP) T O
4 MONTHS / 6 MONTHS
If you are a university student outside of Canada, visit Lakehead for four or six months to improve your English-language skills and take up to two academic courses for credit at the same time. For students with an IELTS of 5.5 or 6.0, the Visiting International Student Program complements English language and academic study with social and cultural excursions to give you the full Canadian experience. As a VIP student, you will have access to extensive student supports as well as to the English Language Centre Homestay Program. lakeheadu.ca/elc-vip
