Dear Parent, There are few parental decisions that carry more weight than choosing a school for one’s children. A student will invest over 17,000 hours at school in the K-12 years. Who will share these hours with your student? What will be their priorities, values, and goals for your child? Who will be the best partners for your family? It has been said that the schooling experience is life in microcosm. It will include trial and error, victories and defeats, frustrating perplexities and the joy of discovery. As one traverses the schooling journey, the relationships that a student develops with teachers and peers will have lasting influences. The selection of the fellow travelers on this pilgrimage deserves careful attention. When the goals of the home and the school are in alignment and complemented by the ministry of the church, the student gains the maximum benefit from the Christian school experience. LCS offers a unique educational value that provides students with a firm academic and spiritual foundation. We place a strong emphasis on our partnership with families and the parent-school communication necessary for mutual support. Our commitment to provide instruction from the perspective of biblical truth is summarized as, “Education in the light of God’s Word.” The success of our graduates in higher education and in a variety of career pursuits affirms the quality of an LCS education. Parents today have more options than ever as they seek the best school for their children. We invite your careful consideration of what LCS has to offer your family. Our Welcome Wednesday open house events provide an opportunity for you to visit the campus and see LCS in action. You may also contact Mrs. Julie Rice, Director of Enrollment, for a tour of our facilities and a personal conversation that can help you make the best schooling decision for your child. Thank you for your interest in Lakeland Christian School. We look forward to getting to know your family. Cordially,
Mike Sligh, Ed. D. Head of School
"We chose LCS because of their strong commitment to educate our children in the Light of God's Word. The education they received certainly prepared them for college. But more important than that, we felt LCS came alongside us to reinforce the importance of a life lived in light of the Gospel."

Mission, Standards & Core Values
4
The mission of Lakeland Christian School is to educate students in the light of God's Word to equip them for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service and worship.
We believe that the mission of Lakeland Christian School is most effectively illustrated by the "three-legged stool." We believe that the home, the school and the church must work together as partners as we educate children in the light of God's Word.
Students are encouraged to place their faith in Christ as their personal Savior and to interpret all of life from a biblical perspective. This conveys an understanding that a relationship with God is established by God's grace through a personal faith in the work of Christ on the cross. The gospel shapes our relationship with God and with our fellow man.
Admission Standards Shared Goals | School & Home Alignment | Cooperative Spirit Academic Record | Disciplinary Record | K4, K5 & First Grade When a student applies for admission to Lakeland Christian School, the Admissions Committee looks at several criteria. These Admissions Standards can be found on the Admissions page of school's website (www.lcsonline.org/admissions). We believe that LCS is most effective when working with families who share spiritual and academic goals compatible with the mission of the school. LCS provides an education with a distinctly Christian environment, and the biblical role of LCS is to work in conjunction with the home and the church to mold students to be Christ-like. We expect every student and family to exhibit a cooperative spirit by adhering to the policies and procedures outlined in the Family Handbook. We look at each applicant's academic record to ensure that the student is adequately prepared for the instructional program at LCS, and we take into consideration each applicant's behavioral record. Finally, students must meet age and maturity standards of the school as they prepare to enter K4, K5 and first grade. 6

Students may attend full days or half days, and families can choose between a two-day, three-day, or five-day per week option. The Early Childhood program at LCS is developmentally appropriate, academically sound and, most importantly, spiritually attuned to the needs of the young children on our campus. Special Programs
(Grades 1-12) Lakeland Christian School understands that students have different academic needs and often learn at different paces. Mild learning disabilities and/or attentional issues can be discouraging for students. Through the Special Programs (SP) Department, LCS seeks to provide support in first through twelfth grades for students who have mild disabilities and are mainstreamed into the rigorous academic curriculum in the general classroom. These services are not included in tuition and require additional fees
Elementary There are four levels of ESE support for students in elementary school that range from consultative services to daily academic support. Certified ESE teachers work with students in first through fifth grade with instruction being offered in the areas of math and language arts.
Secondary Students in grades six through twelve are mainstreamed into regular classrooms where subjects are taught at a college preparatory level except for middle school basic classes and high school core classes in math and English. The SP faculty determine the amount of support (levels 1-4) each student needs in order to progress academically, socially, and emotionally. ESE certified teachers use a whole child approach to learning with an emphasis on executive skills training for students who may participate in a daily supported resource setting.

"They do Jesus and academics equally well. My boys love Jesus and have such a strong biblical knowledge. LCS teaches that and supports their growth in Christ. At the same time, they offer academics that meet your child where they are. The teachers know their stuff, and the academic opportunities are so strong. They also have so many activities to participate in: art, music, PE, musicals, choir, band, flag football, football games, basketball games, field trips, class Olympics, mock trial teams, robotics team...something for everyone."

Performing Arts Soli Deo Gloria! Glory to God alone! This simple phrase is the foundational mission of the LCS Fine Arts Department. Our goal is to inspire and equip students with the skills, passion, and discernment to continue as life-long musicians and artists. Our hope is that their primary focus will be to bring glory to God through the use of their gifts and talents.

Visual Arts The visual arts are an inherent and potent means of testimony to each other and to the lost world; therefore, every act of creation has the potential to be an act of worship and a voice of witness. In the LCS Visual Arts Department, we embrace our creative nature and so endeavor to equip students with the foundational skills necessary to communicate ideas visually and to the glory of the Creator. Elementary In Elementary Art we explore the elements of art, famous artists from history and their techniques, and how we can use those techniques to awaken the God given creativity inside each one of us. We practice, plan, and experiment, and sometimes even fail. We learn to respect and enjoy the process, as this is often more important than a “final product”. All of these things are part of the creative process and help us realize that there are no shortcuts in art much like there are no shortcuts in life. Secondary Sixth grade students take one quarter of art. For students in grades 7-12, art is an optional elective. Students may take the following art courses: Art I and II Art III - Honors Advanced Placement Art 2D, 3D, & Drawing 28

Athletics Athletic Competition at LCS Athletics are an integral part of the Lakeland Christian School educational experience. Team sports are an excellent way to reveal and shape character, and in the hands of a skilled Christian coach, are a tool to aid in the development of the whole person for the service and glory of Jesus Christ. At LCS, athletics are viewed as a means to an end, not an end in themselves. Our athletes are taught that their abilities have been entrusted to them by their Creator. These talents are to be developed to the glory of God as an expression of gratitude to Him.
Athletics at a Glance 23 State Championships 26 State Runners Up ——— Varsity, JV and Middle School Teams More than 35 teams in 14 different sports More than 65% of students in grades 6-12 participate in athletics. 31
For more information, visit www.lcsvikingathletics.com
Athletic Participation Requirements Students who wish to participate in athletics at LCS must show themselves to be competent in the classroom. They must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above on a 4.0 unweighted scale.
In some cases there are more students desiring to participate than can be accommodated. Coaches make selections for teams on the basis of ability and attitude.
Contact of LCS Coaches by Prospective Students or Parents The success of LCS athletic programs and the excellent environment provided for our student athletes by our coaches make athletic participation at LCS attractive to families. The eligibility rules of the Florida High School Athletic Association related to transfer students have become increasingly detailed and prescriptive. In order to protect our school and our coaches from allegations related to recruiting, it has become necessary for us to limit contact with our coaches to those parents and students who have completed the admissions process and have been accepted into LCS. If prospective parents or students have specific questions related to athletic participation, they are to contact the Director of Enrollment, the Athletic Director, the Secondary Principal or the Head of School.
FHSAA Membership LCS is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) and is governed by the standards of the FHSAA regarding athletic eligibility and general administration of the athletic program. Athletic schedules include competition with both public and nonpublic schools.
"We chose (and continue to choose) LCS for our boys for so many reasons. The most important reason is because they are getting a very strong and firm foundation in education as it's being taught in the Light of God's Word. We love the very competitive athletics here, as well as the Viking "community" that makes us feel like one big, happy family!"
