SHARED FAITH, SECURE FUTURE

FROM THE HEADMASTER MIKE SLIGH, ED. D. Shared Faith; Secure Future The events of Parkland during the 2017-18 school year evoked a sense of fear and apprehension across campuses. Efforts for safety were increased exponentially. Awareness of the potential brevity of life was on the mind of the nation. Here at LCS we enhanced our attention to safety with tightened security protocols, additional cameras, equipment updates, and the decision to add a School Resource Officer. Parents expressed appreciation and practiced cooperation with the changes as we partnered together to protect our students. While these events made a compelling case for changes in practice in our daily lives at school, they also reminded us of the reality that our ultimate security can only be anchored in right relationship with God. The LCS community is a faith community. We share a common bond, rooted in the Holy Scriptures that points us to our Savior. It is faith in Christ’s atoning work on the cross that gives the believer hope and security that extends beyond this life. LCS continues to pursue our mission of “Education in the Light of God’s Word” to provide our students with a firm foundation in our shared faith and confidence in our secure future. We are grateful for the many donors who faithfully support us in this vital cause. The 2017-18 Annual Report reflects our desire for financial transparency as we endeavor to exercise careful biblical stewardship of the resources entrusted to us. If you have questions about the data presented here or any aspect of the school’s financial operation, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for your continued partnership and prayer for LCS. With gratitude, {Page 2}

LCS COMMUNITY REACHES RECORD ENROLLMENT

Lakeland Christian School was blessed with another increase in enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year as more and more families continue to desire a Christian education for their children. An increase in enrollment means greater opportunity to impact young lives. As more families join the LCS community, more children and young people are reached for the sake of the Gospel.

THE VIKING FUND The Viking Fund is the annual giving initiative of Lakeland Christian School. We are blessed to have a multi-generational family of faithful supporters. This group includes current parents, graduates, alumni families, grandparents, friends from the community, as well as past and present faculty, staff, and administrators. We depend on and are grateful for their generous contributions which help to provide a vibrant educational experience for our students. During the 2017-2018 school year, total giving was $270,393.

Viking Fund gifts provided support to the following school initiatives:

Parking Lot Expansion

Campus Safety Upgrades

Cafeteria/Auditorium Enhancements

VOYAGES & VICTORIES GALA

The Voyages & Victories Gala is the primary school-wide special event to raise funds for the LCS Financial Aid Fund. The theme for the 3rd annual event was Legacies of Grace. Proceeds from this event provided needed tuition assistance to families with a demonstrated financial need. Nearly 400 guests gather at Haus820 in Lakeland's Mass Market for an evening of testimonies, dinner, musical entertainment and a lively auction. The real winners each year are the children and young people who can be at LCS through the generosity of sponsors and attendees. More than $315,000 was raised through this event.

The gala is hosted by the LCS Shield Maidens, a group of moms who serve as an advisory council on the advancement of Lakeland Christian School. For more information on the Shield Maidens, contact Mrs. Jennifer Copeland, Assistant Director of Advancement, at jcopeland@lcsonoline.org.

STEWARDSHIP GIVING REFLECTS A GENEROUS COMMUNITY Operating a thriving Christian school like LCS is expensive. Our needs will always exceed revenue from tuition and fees — especially when it is a priority here to make a concerted effort to maintain modest tuition increases. That means LCS counts on the giving of a community of ministry partners — those who provide faithful support to the school year after year.
