MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL CAMP JUNE 13-16 | 9:00 AM -12:00 PM | $75.00 For boys who have completed grades 5-7 The purpose of the Viking football camp is to provide individualized instruction in all fundamentals of football. Offensive and defensive skills will be worked on during the week. This camp will be led by members of the varsity coaching staff and is open to all boys who have completed grades 5-7. The daily schedule includes warm-ups and devotions led by various coaches. Bring tennis shoes, cleats (non-metal), and a marked water bottle. Gatorade and water will be provided.

SOCCER CAMP JUNE 13-17 | 8:30 AM -12:00 PM | $100.00 For boys and girls who have completed grades K4-5th This camp is open to all boys and girls who have completed grades K4 through 5th. This is a developmental skills camp with an introduction to fundamentals and principles of soccer. Small group play and games will make this camp fun and entertaining for the developing soccer player. Students will work with the LCS coaching staff and varsity athletes in a friendly, fun and Christ-centered atmosphere.

MUSIC CAMP JUNE 13-17 | 9:00 AM -3:00 PM | $125.00 (by May 23) For students who have completed grades 2-6 The annual LCS Music Camp will be held in the LCS cafeteria from 9 AM to 3 PM on Monday through Thursday, and from 9 AM to 1 PM on Friday. This camp is sponsored by the LCS Music Department and offers a variety of classes to students who have completed grades 2-6. Students who attend Music Camp will enjoy games, crafts, team activities and a variety of classes. Teams are determined by camp personnel, and friend requests are not honored. Students who wish to audition for a part in the 2016 Fine Arts Musical (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) will do so at this camp. Most elementary students are accepted by audition into the ensemble. The children will be divided into two groups. Each group will sing at least five songs. The Music Department staff will consider elementary students (as well as secondary students) for two roles: Jeremy and Jemima Potts. The camp will conclude with a program at 1 PM on Friday, June 17.

Registration includes a t-shirt, drinks, snacks and a pizza lunch on Friday. Campers must bring their own sack lunch on Monday through Thursday.


SCIENCE CAMP JUNE 13-17 or JUNE 20-24 | 9:00 AM -3:00 PM | $300.00 For students who have completed grades 3-5 (Limited to 25 students per week) Led by Seth Miller (3rd Grade Teacher), this action-packed week of camp is designed for students who have completed grades 3-5 and who love to be involved in all aspects of the science world. The hands-on approach to science provides children with unique opportunities to conduct exciting and engaging experiments, be involved with a variety of entertaining activities and take awe-inspiring field trips that relate to the subject of the day. This week-long science summer camp is offered two different weeks: June 13-17 and June 20-24. DAILY SCHEDULE Monday: Dip In! Adventurers will become little marine biologists and oceanographers. Field Trip: Clearwater Marine Aquarium Tuesday: Flight of Physics Adventurers will identify aeronautical attributes and experiment with objects that take flight. Field Trip: Sun-n-Fun Air Museum Wednesday: Out of this World Adventurers will discover God’s magnificent solar creation. Field Trip: Mosi - Planetarium Thursday: Nature Calls Adventurers will become one with nature and find out how God’s creations have a purpose for life. Field Trip: Circle B Bar Reserve Friday: Wild/Wacky Day Adventurers will have a hands-on approach to different kinds of science activities. Field Trip: WonderWorks WHAT TO BRING:

K5 FINE MOTOR CAMP JUNE 20-24 and/or JUNE 27-JULY 1 | 8:30-11:30 AM | $150.00/WEEK For students entering K5

(Choose either one-week camp or two-week camp. Each week is limited to 25 students.)

Designed for incoming kindergarten students, this fun summer camp will give students a head start in developing their fine motor skills so they’re ready for August when kindergarten really begins! Taught by Christa De Labastide and Kay Henry (K5 Teachers), students will enjoy fun activities such as:

WRITING CAMP JUNE 20-24 | 9:00 AM -12:00 PM | $150.00 For students who have completed grades 2-4 (Limited to 20 students) Are you looking for a fun way to enhance your child’s writing skills? The LCS Summer Writing Camp is a great way to make your child a better writing. Taught by Debbie Stump (Third Grade Teacher), this camp is for students who have completed grades 2-4. There will be fun and engaging projects to enhance daily writing activities including: •

A review of basic writing skills needed to be successful in 3rd-5th grades Precise Writing/Transitions - Cooking Essays - Robotics Narrative Story Writing - Plays and Puppet Shows Technical Writing - Science Experiments, Problem Solving and More!

Campers need to bring a spiral notebook journal and a writing folder.

iCreate 2D ART CAMP JULY 11-15 or JULY 18-22 | 9:00-11:30 AM | $125.00 For students who have completed grades K5-5th (Limited to 22 students per week) This week-long art camp will be full of creativity, art making and fun with friends! The two-dimensional art camp will include lessons in drawing, painting and mixed media. The camp is led by Mrs. Emily Johnson, Elementary Art Teacher. If your child attends a full day of art camp (2D in the morning and 3D in the afternoon), there will be a lunch break from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Full-day campers must provide their own lunch.

Registration includes a snack. There is no t-shirt for this camp.

iCreate 3D ART CAMP JULY 11-15 or JULY 18-22 | 12:30-3:00 PM | $125.00 For students who have completed grades K5-5th (Limited to 22 students per week) This week-long art camp will be a week full of creativity, art making and fun with friends! The three-dimensional art camp will include lessons in building with materials such as wood, clay, paper and cardboard. The camp is led by Mrs. Emily Johnson, Elementary Art Teacher. If your child attends a full day of art camp (2D in the morning and 3D in the afternoon), there will be a lunch break from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Full-day campers must provide their own lunch.

Registration includes a snack. There is no t-shirt for this camp.


CHESS CAMPS JULY 11-15 OR JULY 18-22 | 9:00-11:45 AM & 12:15-3:00 PM | PRICE VARIES For students who have completed grades K5-8 Students who have completed grades K5-8 are invited to attend the LCS Chess Camps. The curriculum will be tailored to the ages and abilities of the students. There are two different camps: Games of Strategy and Chess Knights. There will be a lunch break between sessions. Chess Knights: 9:00-11:45 AM Price: $20/day or $90/week This camp will provide instruction in all phases of the game of chess. It will be filled with fun activities, competition, learning about the historic figures of the game and game variations like team chess and Chess4. Students will learn about character through the Knight’s Code of Chivalry. Games of Strategy: 12:15-3:00 PM Price: $20/day or $90/week This camp will introduce many board games of skill including Battleship, Checkers, Connect Four, Othello, Stratego and the ultimate game of strategy -- chess. The camps are run by Mark Williams, the LCS chess coach. In addition to giving private lessons, Mark is a U.S. Chess Federation A-rated player and is a USCF-certified Local Level Tournament Director. He is a Board member of the Lakeland Chess Club and currently holds the Game in 90 Minutes championship title. If your child attends a full day of chess camp (Chess Knights in the morning and Games of Strategy in the afternoon), there will be a lunch break from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM. Fullday campers must provide their own lunch. Price for students who attend a full day of camp (10 sessions total) is $170.00. Chess camps require a separate registration form and payment. This form can be picked up in the Elementary Office.


ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN CAMP JULY 18-22 | 8:30-11:30 AM | $125.00 For students who have completed grades 3-5 (Limited to 24 students) This camp will introduce students t o a rc h i t e c t u re a n d d e s i g n . Students will design, create and build with a purpose! Led by third grade teacher Sandy Nilius, this camp is for students who have completed grades 3-5.

Registration includes a snack. There is no t-shirt for this camp.

A C C E L E R AT E D R E A D E R P R O G R A M The Summer Accelerated Reading Program gives students in K5 through 5th grade an opportunity to earn points between June 8 and July 29. Students may check out books and take AR tests in the library from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on the following days: June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6, July 13, July 20 and July 27. If the library dates are inconvenient, students may take AR tests in the Elementary Office between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM each weekday. School offices will be closed on July 4th. Parents must accompany students at all times when in the library or school office. Students in K5 through 2nd grade who meet their points goal will be rewarded with a pizza party at the beginning of the school year. Students in 3rd through 5th grade will enjoy a bowling party. Point Goals:

K5 - 5 points; 1st Grade - 10 points; 2nd Grade - 15 points 3rd Grade - 20 points; 4th Grade - 25 points; 5th Grade - 30 points
