The Fishing Report
The lake level was 657.5, generation of 8,000 cubic feet per second (CFS) at the beginning of the week increasing to 25,000 CFS by the end of the week for a level of 657.3 by the weekend. Surface temperature at Bagnell Dam was 43 degrees. Truman Lake was at the 705.3 level.
To Note: The Lower Osage is from the dam to the 22-mile mark; Mid-Lake is from the 22- to 38-mile mark, the Upper Osage is from the 38-mile mark to the Route 65 Bridge.
Tournament Results
Brad Jelinek and Brock Reinkemeyer won the BoatWRX Winter Challenge last Saturday with five bass weighing 17.75 pounds.
Bagnell Dam spillway/Osage River
Water clarity: Clear. Black bass: Slow on suspending stickbaits in the middle of the channel. Crappie: Slow on jerkbaits in the middle of the channel.
Lower Osage
Water clarity: Clear. Black bass: Fair on jerkbaits and finesse jigs around brush piles along secondary points or chunk rock channel banks. Crappie: Fair on jigs 15 feet deep around condo docks.
Gravois
Water clarity: Clear. Black bass: Fair to good on Alabama rigs and suspending stickbaits 15 to 30 feet deep along secondary points. Crappie: Good on jigs set 2 feet below a cork in backs of creeks or on jigs 30 feet deep around main channel docks.
Mid-Lake
Water clarity: Clear. Black bass: Fair on jerkbaits along secondary points. Crappie: Good on jigs 15 to 20 feet deep around brush.
Grand Glaize
Water clarity: Stained. Backs of large coves have a thin layer of ice. Black bass: Good on Alabama rigs, jerkbaits and jigs along secondary points. Crappie: Slow on jigs 15 to 20 feet deep around brush.
Niangua
Water clarity: Stained. Backs of some longer coves are ice-covered. Black bass: Fair on Alabama rigs along secondary points and channel swings. Crappie: Good shooting jigs under docks or presenting jigs to brush piles 4 to 18 feet deep.
Upper Osage
Water clarity: Clear. Main channel and coves are frozen. Fishing is slow for all species.
Truman Dam spillway
Water clarity: Stained. Spillway and dead-water channel are frozen most days. Walleye: A few are being caught on jigs.
