LAKE FILM FESTIVAL

LUNAFEST is coming to Lake of the Ozarks this fall. Seven powerful films are debuting in this film festival featuring films by women, about women. Over the past 20 years, LUNAFEST has celebrated the work of over 170 filmmakers and raised over $6 million for women’s causes. The event will be held Sept. 25 at Old Kinderhook Resort.

This year, LUNAFEST features an all documentary lineup of seven short films by women filmmakers, sharing new perspectives and lighting a fire in the industry. And for the first time, LUNA has joined forces with Chicken & Egg Pictures to coproduce three of this season’s films. Together, LUNA and Chicken & Egg Pictures are creating a strong community for women in the film industry.

The gender disparity in film is real. Women are underrepresented in this medium where the overall percentage of female directors from the past 13 years remains at 4.8 percent.

LUNA® Bar has been fighting for change for twenty years. The brand has always committed to inspiring women, championing change, and demanding that equality be a right, not an option. These values fueled LUNA to create LUNAFEST, the first all-women traveling film festival, now in its 20th season.

“Now more than ever, we’re seeing the importance of shining the light on women in film as well as continuing to support community organizations and connecting in new ways,” says Suzy Starke German, Program Director.

All proceed from LUNAFEST Camdenton will benefit Celebrate Differences as well as Chicken & Egg Pictures.

Celebrate Differences is an all-inclusive disability organization, welcoming all children and their families regardless of age or disability. The organization offers services - such as informative workshops, job skills training and employment opportunities through a spice shop, A Pinch of Happiness, located in Camdenton. They connect families through outreach projects, social activities and social networking.
