INSPIRE LAKE NORMAN:

Parents are often looking for activities that bring their family members together, but it can be quite the challenge—especially if the kids are at different stages and ages. If you’d like to have your favorite charity included in an upcoming edition, please email Leslie@lakenormanwoman.com. Jodie Golab, Fundraising and Project Assistant with DKMS-Charlotte, announces an array of family-oriented fundraising activities scheduled for

October. DKMS is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders by creating awareness; recruiting blood stem cell donors to provide a second chance at life; raising funds to match donor registration costs; supporting the improvement of therapies through research; and supporting patients from day one of their diagnoses. “We hope to extend our reach and our donor registry,” Jodie says. “Only 30 percent of patients find a matching donor within their family,” she continues, “and heritage matters … a patient’s best chance of finding a matching donor is someone of similar ancestry. Our goal is to add as many new and diverse donors to the registry as possible.”

Michelle and many women in the Lake Norman area recently came together to send teaching and school supplies to Nicaragua, and at the end of September they will be shipping a box of school materials for the new school year.

Their purpose was birthed out of the service of Gabe who was an anti-bullying mediator and was affectionately known as

“Guardian Gabe” by his peers. Gabe’s Heart
