Set up a movie night in the backyard; have a karaoke contest; take turns reading aloud; cook an old family recipe together or make mini-meals: think tiny tacos, miniature grilled cheese, silver-dollar pancakes, or pintsized pizzas. Some handy apps to take along are eBird, Audubon Bird Guide, BirdsEye Bird Finding Guide, or EyeLoveBirds app. Complete with detailed profiles of common species, high-quality photos, and bird calls, it is a great tool for the beginning birder. Keep a family scrapbook of your birdwatching journeys.
