ANNUAL REPORT
2 014
Jamie Snyder Lead Pastor
In the Old Testament Law there is a great emphasis placed on ‘remembering’ and I understand why. It is when we take the time to remember and reflect that we are reminded about the goodness of God. As I remember the events and circumstances of this last year in the life of Lakeside I am indeed reminded about the goodness of God. As a church our bottom line has nothing to do with finances, our bottom line has everything to do with transformed lives. Men, women and children who have been set free from the penalty of sin and released into the wild abandon life of following Jesus. There are so many stories to tell: addictions broken, marriages healed, insecurities overcome, commitments made, fear conquered and grace received. All of the stories from this past year are just one small phrase of a much larger story of God that stretch throughout history. So though this isn’t the only chapter in the story of God, as you will find in the following pages we are in the mist of a great chapter and one I am honored to be part. A couple of highlights that come to my mind as I remember: Five Hills. One year ago we communicated our five values for the first time: Family, Multiplication, Generosity, Community and Connection. We believe each one of these values must be woven tightly in any life of following Jesus. Therefore these are the five hills we are willing to die on, but also to live on. Turkeyfoot. Several years ago we were fortunate to secure an attractive piece of land on Turkeyfoot for the purpose of full expansion and relocation. With all seriousness we pursued this option and while doing so felt nudged by God to pursue the multi-site campus strategy instead. Therefore, the Turkeyfoot property became expendable and by God’s grace, before we even officially decided to sell, we were approached with an unsolicited, generous offer on the land. At this time we are under contract for the sale of the land and are hopeful the deal will come to completion later this fall. We will keep you informed as we know more. Hebron Campus. December 1, 2013, we launched our first multi-site campus in Hebron, Kentucky. From the first Sunday until the most recent Sunday, we have experienced an overwhelming response from the Hebron and surrounding communities. We have taken the church to the people but also people are coming to church. Many individuals and families are becoming reconnected to Christ or connecting to Christ for the first time. We praise God for what He has done in and through the work of this new campus and we believe the best is yet to come. These are all exciting happenings, but again our bottom line is working to draw people to Christ that they may be set free and transformed by his amazing grace.

CONNECTION
Remaining connected to Jesus is the core of the Christian life. Therefore, we place great significance on Bible Study, prayer, and worship as means to an end. Our end will always be connection to Jesus.

Sean and I have gone through a lot. Both of us were not able to experience what it is like to grow up with our biological parents/family. Everyday was difficult and as we got older we had more questions and grew more curious. We met when Sean and I were teenagers. We felt like no one understood us except each other. After nine months we got pregnant with our first daughter, moved out and started living together. We both worked and went to school, which made life difficult, but we knew that as soon as we could save up the money we would be married. SEAN & JESSICA JOHNSON
I attended my grandparent’s church off and on but I just went because it made them happy. I never understood why people went to church. Sean felt the same way. Aaron Hopkins, a member of Lakeside, hired Sean at Fifth Third Bank. He kept telling Sean to go to Lakeside and try it out but he wasn’t ready. In early 2013, Tracy Adkins, Sean’s sister, started going to Lakeside and spoke all the time about how she loved this church. In August we decided to try it out. Lakeside is where we found God. Right away I felt the love and felt every message Jamie spoke. It made us think differently about the world and helps us learn every week how to be more like Jesus. Our oldest daughter, Khloe, is also thriving from the great things He’s done and takes Him everywhere she goes. We decided to get involved in a Community Group right away. We
“ Lakeside is anticipated that two unmarried teen parents would struggle to fit into group, but gave it a shot. We contacted the Hopkins family who where we aadded us to their group. Right away, the families in the group us with open arms and never judged us for having two found God.” welcomed children before getting married. Being around such great families made us want to get married even more but still were trying to figure out how.
Late January 2014, Jamie’s message went straight to our heart. We knew that we needed to get married to lead a life that would glorify God. The car ride home was the quietest it has ever been. We realized God was speaking to us and we needed to make it right. I emailed Jamie immediately. He was excited and offered to marry us right away! On February 14, 2014 we were married and right after the ceremony we both were baptized together. We are now happier than we ever have been. Getting Married and baptized has made us better people, parents, and friends. We love Lakeside and everything they did for us and appreciate how everyone has treated us from the very beginning. ~Jessica Johnson

COMMUNITY The Christian faith is personal, but never private. Therefore we not only encourage, but we expect everyone to choose community as a lifestyle. Choosing community as a lifestyle simply means refusing to do life alone; instead intentionally choosing to do life together with other believers. In the midst of Christ-centered community we are given the best opportunity to learn what it means to love Jesus and love like Jesus.

Our Community group officially started at the GroupLink event last August. We met weekly as a community, served in various opportunities, and just spent time together. We come from all walks of life and from different places in our Spiritual walk but all had one thing in common: we were all searching, wanting, and needing more in this life. Through our first year, we have had mother and daughter in one family and the father, mother and two sons from another family accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and have been baptized for the forgiveness of their sins. This is so exciting to see!!! It is really awesome that they have made this decision, but it is even more exciting that there have been friends and family members of the people in our community examine their own lives and want to seek more through our willingness to be transparent and seek the Lord. I can’t wait to see what the Lord is going to do in us and through us this next year if we are willing to let Him lead!!! ~ Josh Bystry

Family Matters. Therefore we will always place a high premium on teaching, mentoring, and providing spiritual leadership for our families first. Families come in many different shapes and sizes, but regardless of the shape or size, we believe family matters.

Ours is a generous God. The only appropriate response to such a God is to live a life of generosity to God and others. Our generosity will be shared in many different forms; time, resources, energy, creativity, service and money. The specifics will change depending upon the circumstances and opportunities we are given, but the one constant will be generosity.

I have been a single father since 2006 when I was divorced and gained full custody of my three kids. On April 29th, 2013 my ex-wife Lori was killed in a car accident. I knew the anniversary of her death would be a tough day for us. I relive that night, on a daily basis, when I had to wake my kids in the middle of the night to tell them that their mother died. It’s been difficult knowing that my kids won’t have their mother there to watch them graduate, see them off to their first dance, console them when they’ve had a bad day, or walk them down the aisle. But it’s taken this much time to realize that she is indeed with us. Every twinkle in my kids’ eyes, their laughter, their tears, and the way they care for others. A couple months after the car accident I lost my job and I currently remain unemployed. This has allowed me the opportunity to serve at the Hebron Campus on the IT and Security Team. I feel so blessed and loved with my family at Lakeside. Everyone has been so instrumental in helping me grow my faith in our Father. Each day is a new day that brings new adventures and challenges from God. Lori, and all of our loved ones that have passed, would want us to continue on our journey as strong and happy as we can be. Love Jesus and love like Jesus. Believe in God and have eternal life. This year, all three of my kids and I have been baptized. We look forward to the day that we will be reunited. ~Paul Dennison

MULTIPLICATION Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations.’ In other words, ‘Go and multiply yourselves.’ We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take our call to make disciples very seriously. Nothing honors God more than the making of more disciples. Therefore, everything we do is about making disciples who make disciples.

Wow! What an exciting year! Lakeside is now a multi-site church! Just a little over a year ago, the interior of the old Flick’s grocery store was being demolished to prepare for the construction and remodel of what would become Lakeside’s Hebron Campus. Even though some of the initial excitement of the Hebron Campus was tied to a building, the real excitement and momentum is clearly happening in the lives of those who call the Hebron Campus home. There are so many great stories of life change and how God is shaping and giving a brand new life in and through this body. Hebron Campus has clearly become more than just a building. It has become a place where a group of believers grow together in community as we learn to love Jesus and love like Jesus. Shane Armstrong Hebron Campus Minister
