SCHOOL OVERVIEW Founded in 1919, Lakeside is a coeducational, independent, nonsectarian day school for 853 students in grades 5-12. Admission is highly selective (13%). With 581 enrolled in grades 9-12, 147 are seniors. Students of color comprise 60% of enrollment. Lakeside is a founding partner of Rainier Scholars; 42 are presently enrolled. The student body currently represents 230 sending schools and 76 zip codes.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW All Lakeside courses are college preparatory, and although AP courses are not offered, the majority meet or exceed the rigor and depth of the AP curriculum. Honors courses are available only in science and math. Lakeside values a breadth of study in the liberal arts and requires the following: Grade 9

Lakeside does not release a grade point average, rank students, or give honors or awards. It is Lakeside’s policy to report student suspensions because Lakeside is an institution in which a high level of personal responsibility is expected. All students sign a Statement of Community Expectations.
