SCHOOL OVERVIEW Founded in 1919, Lakeside is a coeducational, independent, nonsectarian day school for 858 students in grades 5-12. Admission is highly selective (16%). With 586 enrolled in grades 9-12, 145 are seniors. Students of color comprise 56% of enrollment. Lakeside is a founding partner of Rainier Scholars; 29 are presently enrolled. The student body is comprised of 234 sending schools and currently represents 76 zip codes.

CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS AND HIGHLIGHTS All courses at Lakeside are college preparatory, and although AP courses are not offered, the majority meet or exceed the rigor and depth of the AP curriculum. Honors courses are only available in science and math. Lakeside values a breadth of study in the liberal arts and requires the following distribution: Grade 9

Curriculum sessions precede the trip, as well as 24 hours of related service in Seattle following their overseas experience.

Lakeside does not release a grade point average or rank students. It is Lakeside School’s policy to report student suspensions because Lakeside is an institution in which a high level of personal responsibility is expected. All students are asked to sign a Statement of Community Expectations.
