We start with mighty White Pine, harvested from the forests of the Lake Superior region. Cozy Cottage utilizes more of a “scraping” technique that limits the depth and the volume of the marks, it appears to have more knife chatter and an eased knife edges. The Original Trapper’s Lodge bites harder into the wood leaving deeper gouges and tears, a more “pioneer” look, it also includes an eased knife edge. Whether you go light with Cozy Cottage or heavy with the Original Trapper’s Lodge, you are assured to have a “One-of-a-Kind” look for your home. We strive to make the colors appear as accurate as possible, be aware that finish color variations can occur due to the natural hues and grain patterns of the wood substrate that it is applied to. Also the amount of sunlight on the application when photographed and variation through the design and printing of this publication can cause color variation. Use the images as a guide, actual color samples are available upon request through your local building material supplier.

I have used VX Pro on more than one thousand projects with outstanding results. Smooth log siding jobs coated with VX Pro still look new after seven years of exposure to the elements. The finish is very flexible and that helps it hold up to expansion and contraction without cracking and peeling from the stress.

3 Coat System - The base coat seals the wood to protect it from harmful UV rays and damage from moisture. The base coat not only promotes dimensional stability, it also provides an excellent surface for top coat applications. We then apply two layers of the top coat to fortify the UV resistance and to obtain the final desired color. Pseudo- Elastic Properties - Our layers of protection expand and contract naturally with the wood to prevent any cracking, peeling and flaking of the finish. No chalking or fading - Unlike other finishes, our product protects from UV damage preventing the onset of a degraded finish. Clean Clear Finishes Don’t Come Easy! It is more than what is being applied to the wood. Lake States Lumber controls the process from start to finish. We take care to insure the wood is at proper temperature and moisture content before the process begins. Then our first step is to sand the paneling, removing mill glaze and any imperfections. We then apply three coats of our ultra clear UV finish, carefully sanding between each coat. The finish is applied to both the front and back of the paneling to limit the exposure to moisture and minimize the expansion and contraction of the wood. The paneling is visually inspected three times through the process to insure quality throughout the process. Lake States Lumber also offers our Advantage Plus Line of Pre-Stained Panelings. A great selection of colors to choose from along with custom capabilities.

Doug Fir Flooring End-Matched & Factory Prefinished Our 1x8 flooring is individually selected for character and personality. Every piece is hand graded for unique characteristics that we feel tell the story of the Old West. With sustainability in mind, only standing dead, fire and beetle killed wood is used. We then start with a whole log and then carefully cut planks. This method produces a higher quality and incredibly unique floor. Wood grain patterns appear to dance and wave as they move from vertical to flat grain. Most flooring manufacturers use a lower grade lumber and then try to cut and high grade for flooring. We do the opposite and cut the whole log into flooring leaving the amazing character in every piece.
