the business community. The Business Expo brings the business community together at the Lakewood Center. Businesses are given the opportunity to display information about their products and services for the community to view. The Chamber also assists new local businesses with Ribbon Cutting ceremonies in order to help get the word out about the business within the community. Events… Aside from networking opportunities, in 2010, the Lakewood Chamber held many great events including the Lakewood Chamber’s Golf Tournament. a great time. Another much anticipated Chamber event is the Annual Car Show. Car lovers from all over California come together to display their old cars for the community to admire. With that in mind, the Greater Lakewood Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a “Get to Know the Candidates Forum” from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm on January 19, 2011 at the Sycamore Center Weingart Ballroom. This is our invitation to you to participate in this informative neutral forum. The Forum will be taped and will be televised before the March 2011 election. Lisa Rapp has also been a valuable resource for the people of Lakewood for many years, as I know she will continue to be in the future. Get to know your candidates! professionals received APWA “BEST awards” at the luncheon. BEST stands for Building Excellence/Shaping Tomorrow. Lakewood was the only city in southeast Los Angeles County receiving awards this year. Other award-winning agencies included the Port of Los Angeles for its 22nd Street Park in San Pedro and the City of Buena Park for its new police headquarters.
