In-N-Out Burger has been a West Coast staple since it first opened in 1948; you can’t drive more than a few miles around Southern California without seeing one. No matter if you’re an Animal Style fries person or you prefer a DoubleDouble meal, this fast food chain is a guilty pleasure for many LMU students. If you’ve ever been to the the Grilled Cheese Truck, it’s easy to see why it was the unanimous winner between both the Loyolan staff and LMU as a whole — it truly is the best of both worlds. If you’re more of a classic grilled cheese lover, you can go for a simple $3 melt (with six different cheese options). But let’s be honest, people go to the GCT for the gourmet options. You can go fancy with the Brie Melt, or you can go intense with the Fully Loaded Cheesy Mac, complete with macaroni and cheese, sharp cheddar, BBQ pork and caramelized onions. If you’re lactose-intolerant, have no fear — the truck also offers sides of tater tots and pickle chips. - Kelsey Mangan, Life+Arts Editor

Another plus: You really get a California feel when you are inside, with light flooding in from the window ceilings and trees and plants all around. BEST VIEW ON CAMPUS The Bluff LMU is widely known for three things: strong Jesuitbased academics, Hank Gathers and the Bluff. Some of the best views of Los Angeles can be seen from the illustrious Bluff, which allows for Instagram-worthy shots of the Pacific Ocean, West Los Angeles and even the Hollywood Hills. When there’s a slight breeze in the air, the irritating L.A. smog is carried over the hills, which provides a clear view of the Hollywood sign from the northern edge of campus. The Bluff is most definitely one of the best aspects of LMU and without a doubt the nicest view on campus.

BEST PLACE TO VIEW APPLE PRODUCTS ON CAMPUS WILLIAM HANNON. LIBRARY If you’re looking to feast your eyes on high-quality, visually stimulating electronic products, look no further than Apple. If you’re in the mood to view the pioneering computer products that also maintain a sleek, sexy aesthetic, then look no further than William Hannon Library. The library offers views of Apple’s coveted machines that most college students would kill for. Inside are hundreds, maybe thousands, possibly millions of computers for students to look at and occasionally touch. The best times to examine and run your fingers across the beautiful silver-backed iMacs are during the early morning hours on weekdays when absolutely no one else is in the library. However, avoid Thursdays because I have reserved the entire library all day for personal viewing purposes. The icy silence of an empty library makes it the perfect setting to practice introspection and contemplate out loud with yourself the nature of beauty in a digital world and how Apple so effortlessly combines the two. It should be noted that you absolutely must wear clothes when observing the flawlessly designed and exquisitely glossy metallic computing devices. Otherwise, the Department of Public Safety will detain you. -Jordan Sernia, Buff Editor

BEST WAY TO SPREAD THE FLU SNEEZING DIRECTLY INTO EYEBALLS After countless years of research, the Bluff has finally found the best way to spread the flu: sneezing directly into a healthy person’s eyeballs. This method allows for the optimum transfer of flu virus cells into the healthy person’s body. The virus enters the cornea after passing through the veil of moisture in front of it. Influenza will then easily make its way through another layer of liquid called Aqueous Humor, which efficiently sends the vomit-inducing virus into the vitreous, the clear jelly that makes up the ball of your eye. After rapidly spreading through the viscous jelly, a small team of decaying white blood cells handily moves the virus along the optic nerve, releasing the virus to the rest of the body. An effective addition to this method is to slowly weaken the target’s immune system over a series of weeks by watering down their vitamins. This method is highly recommended for the most success in your flu-spreading endeavors. -Tucker, Just Tucker

Whether you’re on or off campus, it’s always important to have your best buddy. This year’s best best friend is Todd Gurl, a sophomore physics major. Todd is such a nice guy. He holds the door for you when you walk into the Lair, then stays by the door until you exit the Lair to hold it open again. He knows all the appropriate finger foods to break out at social gatherings and can whip together a mean chicken fettuccine alfredo when the time comes. Todd is that shoulder to cry on but also isn’t afraid to stand up to that shoulder that made you cry. He’s a pro ping-pong player, but will force some minor hand cramps to let you win a few rounds. Todd is the best best friend a guy and/or girl could have, but he’s mine. -Chip Diply, Wizard Staff Writer
Move over, children’s thermometer; there’s a new king in town. After a close race in the polls, this year’s best handheld measuring tool goes to the protractor. Protractors are great. They can measure objects that are six inches or less, draw curves and serve as mean pizza cutters. They’re great at repelling unwanted and/or wanted social encounters, either by throwing them at targeted persons or by yelling the phrase, “I love my protractor!” Plus, who can resist an afternoon of toss-the-protractor with some good company? Then, when everyone’s tuckered out, figure out that perfect angle to set up your lawn chair. If you’re a college student in 2015, you better show up to the party with a protractor. -Chip Diply, Wizard Staff Writer

It is no surprise that Prince O’Whales (POW’s) made our “Best Of” list. If you show up to this bar on Tuesday night, you are more than likely to run into someone you know singing “All the Small Things” or “Wannabe” on the small karaoke stage. POW’s is not only a good place to sing “Don’t Stop Believin’” at the top of your lungs with all of your classmates, but it also provides some awesome ping pong tables in the back of the bar. If you are looking for a lowkey fun time with friends, POW’s will deliver just that. —Jackie Jones, Opinion Editor
Playa Provisions should be your last stop before hitting the beach, or the first one after leaving it. It’s an eclectic mix between a dessert shop and café with a pub armed to provide its customers with anything from clam chowder in a bread bowl to Oreo cheesecake ice cream. Former contestant on the reality show “Top Chef” Brooke Williamson started Playa Provisions and now it boasts an impressive menu of tastes alongside a carefully crafted atmosphere of simple furnishings and even a cozy outdoor patio with fireplace seating. Playa Provisions also features its own whiskey bar and an extensive drink menu.

The enormous outdoor amphitheater traces its origins to the 1920s and has hosted everyone from Billie Holiday and the Beatles to Kanye West. By day, audience members can enjoy the sight of the Bowl nestled into the hills with the Hollywood sign in the distance ... by night, attendees can take in the view of the gorgeous night sky overhead. Two words: rain room. Yes, Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s newest exhibit, which features a never-ending rain shower that won’t actually get you wet, is just one of the many reasons the museum has made it onto LMU’s “Best Of” list. Nothing says serenity like sun, surf and sand. We live in such close proximity to Southern California’s breathtaking beaches — why not take advantage of it? Between Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, Dockweiler and many others, we have plenty of seaside spots from which to choose. Next time you’re feeling stressed, head over to the shore with a beach towel and something cold to drink, and tune out everything but the sound of the waves crashing nearby. If you’re feeling more active, take a ride down The Strand, which is a bike path that runs along the coast from north of Santa Monica all the way to Torrance. - Nicole Muldoon, Asst. Life+Arts Editor
