KEEPING IT POSITIVE, YOU CAN STILL SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RESTAURANT BY TRYING SOME OF THEIR “COOK AT HOME” OPTIONS WHICH ARE NOW AVAILABLE AS ALTERNATIVES TO TRADITIONAL TAKEAWAYS – WE’RE RECOMMENDING THREE OF OUR RECENT FAVOURITES.

THEY ALL HAVE CLEAR COOKING INSTRUCTIONS THAT ARE EXTREMELY EASY TO FOLLOW, RESULTING IN AN IMPRESSIVE AND AUTHENTIC RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE IN YOUR OWN HOME.

GINZA KITCHEN SUSHI AT HOME

GINZA KITCHEN - SUSHI AT HOME

This is one of the best “Cook at home” kits currently on the market.

This is amazing! It’s fun to prepare, it’s surprisingly simple, and the quality of the ingredients is terrific, as you would expect from Ginza Kitchen. We were a little daunted before starting, but there was absolutely no need to worry as the kit contains full instructions and there are also online tutorials so you really can’t go wrong.

The kit contains enough ingredients to make about 40 pieces of sushi and you can add salmon sashimi if you wish. we ended up with two large boards crammed with a selection of nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and

California rolls. The food looked impressively authentic, and most importantly tasted fresh and delicious.

The kits are available for pre-order. Just check the Ginza Kitchen website and social media pages for their posts and full details.

Kit contains :• Seaweed •Rice • Nigiri - tofu, octopus, prawn and

salmon • Crab sticks • Salmon sashimi • Avocado and cucumber • Condiments include soya sauce, sesame seeds, ginger, wasabi, unagi sauce, wasabi mayo, masago, • a sushi roller • chop sticks

Ginza Kitchen’s Sushi at Home Kit is a real treat; it’s fun, creative, and gives stunning results.

AT HOME WITH BUBA

We have always adored Buba, and were lucky to be able to try a selection from

their “At Home with Buba” menu.

It couldn’t be easier; you go online, choose what you want to eat, collect your meal from the restaurant or have it delivered, (Buba will deliver across Northern Ireland), and follow the simple cooking instructions provided. All the dishes are clearly labelled and everything is so quick and easy to prepare.

The end result is a delicious Buba restaurant meal to enjoy in the comfort of your own home.

We ordered the Vegetarian Mezze; baklava stuffed dates, falafels, red pepper and walnut dip, Buba flat bread, and our favourite, crispy halloumi fritters with Buba house sauce and chilli jam.

We then had a spicily warming vegetable tagine with cous cous, chermoula roast carrots on houmous salsa, chopped salad and pickles.

For dessert we chose the wonderfully moist vegan chocolate brownie with a sharp raspberry coulis, perfect for cutting through the cocoa sweetness.

So, if you are missing those exotic herbs and seasonings for which Buba has become renowned, give them a call, or get online. It won’t arrive on a magic carpet but you’ll be transported to spicier climesvirtually, of course!

AT HOME WITH BUBA

SHED BISTRO - HEAT AT HOME

In our view, as Shed is one of the best restaurants in South Belfast, and due to the fact we had been unable to visit since their major expansion and renovations before Christmas, we were greatly looking forward to trying their “Heat at Home” takeaway menu.

We started with a Shed classic; Crispy Salt and Chilli Baby Squid served with Asian slaw and sesame dressing with lemon aioli for dipping.

Our main course choices were a perfectly cooked Roasted Cod Fillet with saffron aioli, baby tomatoes, capers and new potatoes, and an amazing vegetarian option, the Baked Mushroom Tart topped with a rocket and parmesan salad and melted smoked scamorza all served with sautéed potatoes - both dishes were absolutely delicious. We also ordered a portion of the

SHED BISTRO HEAT AT HOME

temptingly rich Truffled Mac and Cheese as a side dish.

The portion sizes are generous and filling, so we had to wait a while before tackling Shed’s incredible Sticky Toffee Pudding, with creamy vanilla ice cream. Comfort food at its best!
