Discover 1.5 miles of heavenly shoreline at world-famous Dog Beach (PCH between Goldenwest St. and Seapoint St., dogbeach. org), where dogs can frolic o the leash in the sand and surf, and they might even make some new doggie friends. The Best Friend Dog Park (18200 Edwards St., Huntington Beach, hbdogpark.com) in Huntington Beach Central Park is another safe place for your dog to romp o -leash. There are separate areas for dogs of all sizes and drinking stations supplied with fresh water.
The Park Bench Cafe (7732 Goldenwest St., Huntington Beach, parkbenchcafe.com) in Huntington Central Park caters to the canine crowd (in addition to their owners) with such tonguewagging favorites as Peanut Butter Bone. Sit in nature’s splendor as you spend a lazy dog day with good food and co ee. For dessert, make your way to Top Dog Barkery (180 5th St., #110, Huntington Beach, topdogbarkery.net) located within Pacific City for a variety of tasty homemade dog cupcakes, cookies, and more. They also o er “barkday” parties, “muttrimonial” ceremonies, doggy daycare, and a self-dog wash.
Next, give your dog a taste of the good life at the luxurious Paws Chateau (7680 Talbert Ave., Ste. I & H, Huntington Beach, pawschateau.com), featuring a cage-free doggie day camp with shuttle service, penthouse suites for overnight stays, and a complete spa for pampered pooches. Don’t worry if you get a little separation anxiety—you can check in with your dog via a live webcam. If your pup just needs a quick touch up, you can wash your dog yourself (shampoo and conditioner provided) at the Dirty Dog Wash (504 Main St. Ste C, Huntington Beach) or let the professionals do it.

Huntington Beach’s four oceanfront hotels—The Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton Hotel, the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa, the Kimpton Shorebreak Resort, and Paséa Hotel & Spa—all have a reputation for pampering their guests, even the furry ones. Each provides pet beds, bowls, and treats for (dog) guests. Paséa Hotel & Spa, named “Best Pet-Friendly Hotel” by USA Today in 2021, o ers a “Paw-séa Pet Package” that includes three hours of pet sitting, a doggie spa treatment, and the keys to the recently opened 1,100-square-foot dog park.

1 Surf City Surf Dog (surfdogevents.com) in late September features, yes, dogs riding surfboards at Huntington Dog Beach. 2 SoCal Wienerfest (southerncaliforniawienerfest.com) in May attracts hundreds of dachshunds to Huntington Dog Beach.
3 The lovable competitors in the Dachshund Wiener Dog Races at Old World Village (visitoldworld.com) aren’t exactly the thoroughbreds of canines, but they are wildly entertaining and can be seen on select Sundays.
4 SoCal Corgi Beach Day (socalcorgibeachday.com) is held several times a year and features adorable corgis playing in the sand and surf.
