Eaton Canyon Falls: BEGINNER Eaton Canyon’s easy proximity and approachable trails makes it popular choice for hikers of all ages and abilities. Stop by the Eaton Canyon Nature Center to take advantage of their docent guided tours and family nature walks. The 3.8-mile round trip trek to the falls takes approximately an hour and half to complete with a modest elevation gain of 592 feet. Be prepared to cross streams on strategically placed rocks and logs. Cool o and splash around in the pool at the base of the 40-foot falls before turning

Hermit Falls Trail:
MODERATE Hermit Falls boasts cabins, streams, wildlife, lush canyons and a dam with cascading water. The trailhead begins at Chantry Flats then winds two miles down to 1,430 feet of elevation at the 30-foot waterfall. The natural pool of cool, deep water is excellent for swimming and floating. Be sure to grab an Adventure Pass ($5) to park and bring a change of clothes if you plan on taking a refreshing dip. The hike through the lower reaches of Santa Anita Canyon takes about 1.5

Mount Lowe Railway
Trail: MODERATE Mount Lowe Railway opened in 1893 to bring visitors to the Echo Mountain Resort—a project that never came to fruition. Yet, the scenic railway itself was a popular tourist attraction for 45 years, before closing in 1938. You can follow its course on a 7.25mile out and back hike that begins at the Markham Trailhead on Mount Wilson Red Box Road. Venture down to Inspiration Point and Mount Lowe Trail Camp where you can find ruins of the Alpine Tavern. Once you get to Inspiration Point, enjoy the sweeping views through the sighting

Mount Wilson:
ADVANCED Mount Wilson is north of Pasadena in the Angeles National Forest and boasts an impressive 5,710-foot summit, complete with an observatory and plenty of park benches to enjoy the panoramic views. Experienced, fit hikers can traverse this long, alpine trail covering 14 miles. Be sure to bring snacks and water, sunblock, bugspray, proper hiking shoes and even trekking poles for this advanced trail. The strenuous daylong hike will take approximately seven hours with 3,545 feet of elevation gain.
