A partnership between Lancaster City Council and local re-use charity Furniture Matters
Bulky Matters enables you to dispose of unwanted household items
Bulky Matters has been operating across the district since June 2006.
AND help local disadvantaged people and the environment at the same time - it couldn’t be simpler or easier to arrange!
Since then the partnership has:
To book an appointment contact Lancaster City Council’s Customer Services department on 01524 582491 and we will guarantee to collect your unwanted items within 7 working days, on a day to suit you. Collections can be booked during the day Monday to Friday, and we also operate on a Thursday evening and all day on Saturday for those customers who are unable to arrange a collection during the week. We want to collect from inside your home, which means items won’t get wet or vandalised, and are therefore more likely to be reusable. Each collection costs £18 for up to 3 items, with additional items costing £6 each. Any household in receipt of either Council Tax or Housing Benefit is eligible for a 50% discount on collections.

Furniture Matters have a host of volunteering opportunities available to local people ~ where you can learn new skills, build up work experience for your C.V., meet new people, and make a difference locally ~ both to the environment and to other local people.
