T. REXTASY T. Rextasy have now been performing around the world for over 20 years. COMEDY NIGHT A hilarious evening of stand-up featuring: Ben Lawes, Rob Mitchell and headline act Greg Cook. Greg Cook’s deadpan style and mastery of the spoken word led the head of BBC Comedy to describe him as ‘Les Dawson for the 21st century’. PROMENADE CONCERT ORCHESTRA – MUSIC FROM THE PALM COURT Seaside and spa entertainment for 200 years and more has centred around easy-to-listen-to melodies and toe-tapping rhythms, and the PCO’s 11th such concert programme will highlight and stir-up the warm, nostalgic memories of bygone holidays of past generations. EASTER EXTRAVAGANZA STARRING THE NASHVILLE TEENS The Nashville Teens’ hit records include Tobacco Road, Google Eye and many more! With support from Golly’s RockOla, a popular northern group and The Knight Crew, new to Morecambe. The Nashville Teens were formed in the early 1960s. CHRIS DIFFORD WITH SPECIAL GUEST BOO HEWERDINE Chris Difford is a rare breed. As a member of one of London’s best-loved bands, the Squeeze co-founder has made a lasting contribution to English music with hits such as ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Up The Junction’, ‘Labelled With Love’, ‘Hourglass’ and ‘Tempted’. Boo Hewerdine’s first tentative steps came with the band, The Great Divide before the formation of the critically acclaimed group The Bible and a career that subsequently bloomed. THE MANFREDS The 60s group Manfred Mann is now considered one of the finest and most respected bands from that era. Their numerous hits were R&B based with an undercurrent of jazz - an unusual but winning combination of playing style and substance. Their records have a timeless quality and, some 55 years on, The Manfreds, with original front man, Paul Jones, still perform many of their hits, including ‘Do Wah Diddy Diddy’. MICHAEL CHAPMAN Chapman became known on the London and Cornish folk circuits in 1966. Blending atmospheric and autobiographical material he established a reputation for intensity and innovation. He is known as one of the UK’s best finger picking style guitar players. Appearing on recordings with Hiss Golden Messenger and Steve Gunn has cemented Chapman’s position as a pivotal figure in roots, folk and acoustic guitar playing over the last 50 years. BRIAN KENNEDY Brian is first and foremost a live performer and songwriter. His constant touring across the world, including the major global festivals, has resulted in an ever-growing international fan base, over a phenomenal 25 year career on the roller coaster ride that is the unpredictable music industry. GRIMETHORPE COLLIERY BAND Grimethorpe’s noted concert performances include the FIFA World Cup, BAFTA Awards, BBC Proms, Eurovision and London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, together with a wealth of national and international television / radio appearances and professional recordings. The band has been the recipient of two gold discs, as well as a BAFTA nomination for its contributions to the global hit movie “Brassed Off” for which Grimethorpe was the focal point. STEPHEN DALE PETIT Described by The Times as the man who has seized the blues guitar baton from Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Jimmy Page, American born Petit has sworn to establish the blues as the dominant force in popular culture and bring a blues revolution. Previous collaborations include Clapton, Ronnie Wood, and Dave Gilmour. Expect fireworks and breath-taking dynamics as Petit and his band deliver their exhilarating, fresh take on the blues. CLOUDBUSTING – THE MUSIC OF KATE BUSH Performing the music of Kate Bush with an authenticity and passion which has won acclaim from across Europe, CLOUDBUSTING have been championed by BBC1 as amongst the top 20 tributes in the world. PROMENADE CONCERT ORCHESTRA LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS It is some years since Morecambe audiences last experienced a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert. The Promenade Concert orchestra present just that, with the help of Carnforth and District Choral Society; soprano soloist, Rowena Thornton and bass soloist, Brian Lancaster. As well as the traditional favourites, there will be popular operatic choruses, solos and duets, and a special folk-song arrangement by their own, Julian Davies. JOHN COGHLAN’S QUO John Coghlan joined Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster in their newly-formed band ‘The Spectres’ in 1962 later becoming Status Quo when Rick Parfitt joined. They had a string of chart-topping albums and endless hits including “Wild Side Of Life” and “Rockin’ All over the World”. John Coghlan’s Quo formed in the 90s and their prime aim is to recreate an authentic “70’s Quo Sound” in keeping with John’s time with Quo. Friday 25 May 8pm £18.50. 14+

THE RUTLES As everyone knows, The Rutles story began on January 21, 1959 at 43 Egg Lane, Liverpool, where Ron Nasty and Dirk McQuickly first bumped into each other. Ron invited Dirk to help him stand up. Dirk, merely an amateur drinker, agreed and on that spot a legend was created, a legend that will last a lunchtime. THE RONNIE SCOTT’S ALL STARS “THE RONNIE SCOTT’S SOHO SONGBOOK” Direct from London’s world-famous jazz club and combining world-class live jazz, narration and rare archive images and footage, The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars take to the stage to celebrate ‘The Ronnie Scott’s Soho Songbook’. Hosted and performed by the award-winning All Stars, led by the Club’s Musical Director, this is a unique evening celebrating the music and history of Ronnie Scott’s and is a must for any music fan. THE RAYMOND FROGGATT SHOW Raymond Froggatt first formed his band in Birmingham in 1964, surrounded by talented friends including the likes of Black Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi as well as the Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood among others. Raymond continues to write and tour around the world with his band performing songs spanning a 54 year career. Friday 22 June 7.30pm £15.
THE REAL THING Multi-million selling soul band The Real Thing are ready to give their much loved disco inspired hits a new lease of life with an extensive UK tour. Featuring the group’s three original vocalists Eddie Amoo, Chris Amoo and Dave Smith, along with their 5-piece band, the trio deliver a funky ‘in your face’ show with a strong ‘retro flavour’ with the band’s classic songs mixed with contemporary grooves. ARMED FORCES DAY As part of Armed Forces Day, The Platform will host Army, Navy and Air force veteran and modern service equipment and models including submarines, ships, aircraft and a wide range of army equipment. This will be accompanied by a variety of music, lucky draws and interactive events such as climbing walls and competitions inside and out. RUBY TURNER Ruby Turner’s major break came in the mid 1980s, when she was asked to join ‘Culture Club’. An offer of a solo record deal closely followed, leading to the hits ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’, ‘If You’re Ready’ (Come Go With Me) and in the American R’n’B chart, the Number 1 hit single ‘It’s Gonna Be Alright’ - one of less than ten British records to achieve this! She is also one of the main singers in Jools Holland’s R&B Orchestra, featuring on many of his albums. Thursday 5 July 8pm £20.

CHORAL STIMULATION Choral Stimulation are Scotland’s answer to Pitch Perfect. An oxymoron at best considering Scots are not synonymous with being happy, clappy chappies - in fact their name alone suggests the irony by which they have embraced the genre of a cappella music. The witty mixed group will deconstruct the components of a cappella introducing the audience to beatboxing, close harmonies and vocal acrobatics in their own self-deprecating manner. GYLES BRANDRETH: ‘BREAK A LEG’ Actor, author, One Show reporter, former MP, QI, Have I Got News For You and Countdown star Gyles Brandreth returns with his new one-man show, celebrating all things theatrical. This is Brandreth unleashed on the stars he’s known and theatre stories that have made him laugh. Without hesitation or repetition (and just a touch of deviation), Just a Minute regular Gyles delivers an evening of wit, wisdom, and hilarious name-dropping. Sunday 8 July, 7.30pm £17.50.
THE FORTUNES “PAST AND PRESENT SHOW” The Fortunes first came to international acclaim during the ‘swinging’ mid-sixties. Following on in the wake of Merseybeat, and the R&B of The Stones etc, they added another dimension to the sound of the classic pop song with their special ingredients of sophisticated orchestration, dual lead vocals, and stylish counter-melodies. THE PLATFORM PRESENTS FREESTAGE LIVE As part of Morecambe Music Festival, The Platform will once again host Freestage. Local musicians are given a unique opportunity to showcase their talent in this iconic venue using professional sound equipment and engineer. HEIDI TALBOT & JOHN MCCUSKER Two of folk’s most highly regarded and celebrated musicians are joining forces for the first time as a duo. John has produced Heidi’s last 3 albums, they have both toured all over the globe in each other’s live bands but this will be the first time the pair collaborate as a duo. MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION Part of Morecambe Carnival, The Platform presents: ‘A Model Railway Exhibition’ with Storth Model Railway Club. Marvel at featured layouts with plenty of nostalgia from the Hornby clockwork system in 0 gauge and the Hornby Dublo layout featuring trains that would have carried visitors to the Midland Hotel.
