WE’LL MEET AGAIN A celebration of wartime entertainment to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. DERVISH Dervish have been entrancing audiences with their magical Irish traditional music for over 25 years. They have played all over the world, memorably at Rock in Rio, the world’s biggest music festival, the only Irish band to have appeared there. GOSPEL BAYFEST The second Gospel Bayfest weekend will be a celebration of Gospel music and will feature artists from throughout the British Isles. The aim of the event is to glorify God and provide a forum for Gospel music in the north west of England. The weekend will be hosted by Paul Jones from Manfred Mann and his wife Fiona Hendley. COLIN STAFFORD-JOHNSON Wildlife cameraman and television presenter Colin Stafford-Johnson is one of the world’s most acclaimed and internationally awarded filmmakers. DARKSIDE PINK FLOYD ‘YOU’VE GOT TO BE CRAZY TOUR’ Darkside, the Pink Floyd Show, are now in their 13th year of touring with the ‘You Gotta Be Crazy’ Tour featuring Pink Floyd’s iconic psychedelic and progressive rock music. Including tracks from the classic albums: Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and Animals, complete with a spectacular laser light show and projected images to capture the essence of Floyd at its best. MICK MILLER & BILLY HUNTER ‘BACK FROM VEGAS’ Comedy has evolved over the years and so has Mick Miller. He got his big break on ITV’s “New Faces” in the 1970s, and in 1977, he was offered his first summer season in Morecambe. He became a household name when he was a regular on ITV’s “The Comedians” and has continued to work solidly ever since. Mick’s special guest for the tour is the hilarious, Billy Hunter. ANDY FAIRWEATHER LOW AND THE LOW RIDERS PLUS THE HI RIDERS SPECIAL SOUL REVUE Andy Fairweather Low came to prominence as the lead singer in Amen Corner in the 60s. THE LONDON PHILHARMONIC SKIFFLE ORCHESTRA The LPSO are a musical/comedy showband following in the tradition of Spike Jones and The Nitwits, but with a modern slant. MATTHEWS’ SOUTHERN COMFORT Iain Matthews first gained attention as a founding member and vocalist for Fairport Convention. He moved on to create Matthews’ Southern Comfort, exploring his interest in American music. They had a No.1 hit in the UK with Joni Mitchell’s ‘Woodstock’. The new MSC, a quartet, is a spectacular band, representing both the past and the present, as Matthews cleverly reinvents some of the classic MSC songs, to accompany the new originals. MICHAEL PORTILLO ‘LIFE: A GAME OF TWO HALVES’ It took Michael Portillo little more than 10 years to get a seat in the Commons and then rise to a point where he was a favoured leader of his party and possible future PM. Since then, he has endeared himself to many with his respect for solid workmanship as found in the daily life of ordinary hard working citizens. THE REAL PEOPLE The Real People formed in 1987 and over the following four years were as pivotal as The La’s and The Stone Roses in reinventing rock & roll. PROMENADE CONCERT ORCHESTRA – MUSIC WHILE YOU WORK For many years, the BBC Radio presented Music While You Work, partly, as a war-time effort to encourage workers in their industrial roles, but for long after WWII finished, the programme remained very popular. LINDISFARNE Lindisfarne emerged from Tyneside in the 1970s and quickly carved out a unique place for themselves as one of British rock’s most original bands. THE SEX PI**ED DOLLS An all-girl Rock band who exploded onto the scene a few years ago. SHOOGLENIFTY Lighting up the stage with joy and verve has always been Shooglenifty’s USP, but with a new fiddler in the shape of pint-sized fireball Eilidh Shaw they’ve upped the ante. THE SEARCHERS FAREWELL TOUR The Searchers have been touring the globe and entertaining audiences for more than 50 years and they have now decided to retire. This Farewell ‘solo’ concert will not only include all their famous hits, such as ‘Sweets For My Sweet’, ‘Needles and Pins’ and ‘Sugar and Spice’, but also many album tracks and well-known favourites, as well as anecdotes and reminiscences of their remarkable career. PROMENADE CONCERT ORCHESTRA – VIENNESE CONCERT The PCO presents its 12th annual New Year Viennese Concert. As well as the usual Viennese treats from the Strauss family, the PCO will have a few special musical bubbles in its Champagne bottle to fizz-up a cold Sunday in January. Featuring an award-winning young professional soprano soloist, Catriona Hewitson to sing some arias, and the Turning Point Theatre Arts presenting some appropriate dances to complete the celebrations. ALICE ROBERTS “DIGGING INTO BRITAIN’S PAST” Anthropologist, author and broadcaster Alice Roberts has been delving into Britain’s past, and making archaeology programmes, for nearly twenty years. In this exclusive tour, Alice will share insights, anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories from her personal journey to explore Britain’s past, with footage from her programmes and excerpts from her books.
