Schools Activity Packages For primary school children across the Lancaster & Morecambe District


Team Building Lancaster City Council offer a number of team building opportunities to Primary schools. These are ideal ways to get new classes / year groups to work together and for a new class teacher to get to know their new children in a fun, friendly and interactive environment. We have a number of activities that can be offered as part of a 1 hour taster session, a half day of activities or even a full day. We can deliver most of these activities at your school or at Salt Ayre Sports Centre. The activities offered include : • Pedal Go Karting – school playground / indoor at Salt Ayre • Giant Inflatable Obstacle Course (90ft long) – school outdoor grass area (weather permitting) / indoor at Salt Ayre • Fire building / Den building – school outdoor grass area / outdoor at Salt Ayre • Raft building – Salt Ayre swimming pool • I’m a child get me out of here ….. – school indoor / outdoor and Salt Ayre indoor and outdoor We can also deliver a generic team building activity that involves physical and mental challenges suitable for the age group we are working with. These can take place either at school or Salt Ayre. The majority of these activities are aimed at key stage 2 but we can offer alternative activities for key stage 1 children, please telephone the number below for more details. For team building all the costs vary depending on what you would require and the length of time of the activity.


Healthy Schools Programme Aims and Objectives To deliver high quality, interactive activity and theory sessions which cover the basics of living a healthy life. Our programme covers the following topics: • • • • • •

Goal Setting Healthy foods Fats & Sugars Label reading & Ingredients Fun Activities & Sports Food Groups

Lancaster City Councils Healthy Schools Programme can be tailored to your specific time restraints and school’s needs. We can deliver a morning, afternoon or a half term block of interactive sessions. The sessions consist of around 50% theory, which are delivered in an interactive way using group activities and presentations and are followed by a fun active session. Lancaster City Council’s Healthy Schools Programme is delivered by the Sport and Physical Activity team which has over 25 years’ experience delivering high quality lessons in primary and secondary schools across the district.


Learn to Cycle & Just learnt to Cycle Learn to Cycle This one and a half hour course teaches children to ride their bikes. Learn to Cycle is aimed at children in years 1 and above who can’t ride their bikes. The Learn to Cycle course is for groups of ten children. We can deliver this course on any flat surface at your school or at Salt Ayre Sports Centre which has indoor space available. Each child needs to bring their own bike and helmet; however we do have four bikes and helmets that can be used by children without bikes of their own. We usually have around an 80% success rate within the first session however some children need to practise their skills and attend a second session. The cost for this course is £60 which includes two fully qualified British cycling level 2 coaches and bike / helmet hire if required. Just Learnt to Cycle Just Learnt to Cycle follows nicely on from the Learn to Cycle course. Children are taught the fundamental skills of cycling: breaking, turning, balance and spatial awareness in a fun game driven lesson. This course is designed to accommodate groups of ten children and lasts one and a half hours. Children must be able to ride a bike to attend this session and need a bike and helmet. As above the Just Learnt to Cycle can be delivered at your school or at Salt Are Sports Centre. The cost for this course is £60 which includes two fully qualified British cycling level 2 coaches and bike / helmet hire if required.


Special Events:

Sports Weeks / Fun Days & Year 6 Leavers Activities Whether you are planning a class treat or a whole school special event we can help to make it a day to remember. These events can run over a few hours, a half day or full day. Some of these activities have to take place a Salt Ayre Sports Centre but some can be brought to your school, please contact us to discuss further. There are so many different options available that we cannot possibly list them all here and every event can be bespoke to your school’s requirements. For example, if you are planning a Year 6 leavers’ day you could bring the whole of year 6 to Salt Ayre Sports Centre were we can organise a full day of activities which can include : • • • • • • •

Indoor Pedal Go Karting 90ft Giant Inflatable Obstacle Course NERF Quest Fencing Archery Private Inflatable pool party Xbox Fifa 16 competition and Wii dance-off party

As part of this amazing day we can also offer a hot or cold buffet for the Year 6 children.


Young Leaders’ Award Lancaster City Council have been delivering the Young Leaders Award for the last 10 years in local Primary Schools with over 2000 children having benefited from this course. The course is aimed at children in years 5 and 6 and takes place at Salt Ayre Sports Centre over a full day or two half days. Transport is included in the price if required. The course is designed to be both interactive and informative and many of the children that complete the award show an increase in their confidence levels. The children who pass the award have the opportunity to implement their new found skills by organising, planning and delivering games and activities for the younger children in years 1, 2 and 3. These games and activities help the lunch time assistants to deliver safe, fun and active sessions and encourages the younger children to participate in a more structured activity during their lunch break. The cost of the course is £180 which includes certificates and medals. Please note that this course is covered by the SSN buy-in.
