SUMMER PROGRAMS
2022
A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR Welcome to our exciting Summer 2022 Programs Guide! With spring just around the corner, we are looking forward with enthusiasm to all things SUMMER. The season always brings with it my favorite activities: being outside in the sunshine, swimming, and traveling. It’s also a great time to learn something new or focus on a passion. We want LCDS to be your go-to for summer fun and learning! This guide to summer at LCDS includes more programming than ever before, and we have offerings for all ages from preschool through 12th grade. From “Camp LCDS” - a variety of themed weeks for students grades 1-4, to Upper School “Courses for Credit” - where students in grades 9-12 can free up their schedule by fulfilling academic requirements in the summer, to the week we transform LCDS into Hogwarts (potions, wands, and wizards included!), there’s bound to be a match for your student. Please peruse and get planning! We’re looking forward to having you at LCDS. Sincerely,
Heather Woodbridge Director of Summer Programs

Diane Wilikofsky, LCDS art faculty Here’s your chance to make your own stop motion animated film! Learn how to draw a storyboard, make sets and characters, use cameras and computer capture software, edit your rough footage and compose an original soundtrack. All you need is patience. Stopmotion animation is a process where a picture is taken then the object being animated is moved just a little bit, another picture is taken and another small movement is made. This process is repeated over and over until the scene is completed. The goal is to make inanimate objects appear to move and come to life. Throughout the week you will make several short animated films. You will explore different media as you learn the basic skills required for animation.
