“Explore Learning” simulations and related worksheets are assigned for homework each evening, plus related e-reading and a few problems from the book. Expect about 1-1.5 hours of homework each evening. A quiz will be given each Friday, with a comprehensive final on the last day of class. You will need a laboratory notebook for documenting daily experiment results.

Kinematics in one and two dimensions, including use of LEGO Nxt robots.
Week 2
Forces, including water-rocket construction and testing
Week 3
Momentum, energy, and work, including rollercoaster design.
Week 4
Waves, sound, and optics.
Week 5
Electricity and magnetism.

Prerequisite(s): Full year of Algebra I and Honors Geometry with final grades of B or higher
Vodcasts will be assigned as daily homework in addition to some practice problems on corresponding worksheets. About 1 - 1.5 hours of homework each evening.
Comprehensive weekly assessments on 2-3 units, laboratory activities, and a final exam will all contribute to the overall grade in the course.
Week 1
Laboratory safety, equipment, and procedures. Chemical measurements: Significant figures, conversions, factor-label method.
Introduction to Chemistry: Element names and symbols, classification of matter, chemical/ physical properties and changes, energy.
Atomic Structure: Atomic theory and structure, isotopes and average atomic mass, mole concept.
Week 2
The Periodic Development of the Periodic Table, periodic trends.
Chemical Bonding: Common ions, chemical bonding: covalent, ionic, metallic.
Chemical Names and Formulas: Naming chemical compounds, using chemical formulas.
Week 3
Chemical Reactions and Equations: Writing and balancing equations, reaction types, predicting products.
Stoichiometry: Stoichiometric calculations, limiting reactant, percent yield.
Week 4
Gases: Development of the gas laws, partial pressure, effusion, and diffusion.
States of Matter: Properties of solids, liquids, gases, kinetic molecular theory, phase changes.
Week 5
Aqueous Solutions: Concentration calculations, solution preparation, and properties, colligative properties.
Thermochemistry/Thermodynamics: Phase change energy calculations, enthalpy, entropy, and free energy.
Advanced topics such as acids/bases

You can pay for camp in full or with a $50 non-refundable deposit per camp. The balance of tuition is due May 1. Your card on file will be charged May 1 automatically unless other payment arrangements have been made.

Come flip with us! We will be mastering, perfecting, and trying new skills. Whether you are a beginner who wants to learn how to safely fall and cartwheel – or more advanced and working running tumbling –we want you! Each day we will do some stretching and strengthening exercises as well as drills specific for various skills. Coach Noecker is a National Rated Gymnastics Judge and has been coaching tumbling and gymnastics for over 20 years!
Athletes should not have buckles, zippers, or deep pockets in their clothing. Form fitted shirts are recommended.

Cougar Boys Lax Summer Camp

This camp is an opportunity for youth players to learn the basics of the game from varsity coaches and players as well as have fun competitions. Opportunities to learn, improve, and have fun are abundant whether the player has never heard of lacrosse before or has years of experience playing the game. This camp will focus on individual skills, teamwork, and communication. The heralded “Cougar Camp Classic” tournament with all campers participating will wrap up our week of fun. The counselors for this camp will include the LCDS Coaching staff and varsity players thus giving us a well-rounded mix of expertise, energy, and applicable knowledge. Come be a part of the Cougars Lacrosse family while enjoying and learning the fastest growing field sport in the world!

Whether you want to tune up your skills or learn the basics of bumping, setting, spiking, and serving – come join in the fun. Each day will have some warm-up activities as well as some conditioning activities in addition to drills for volleyball skills. Depending on the number of athletes we will also have some volleyball scrimmages. Coach Noecker has coached both Middle School and High School Level Volleyball. Knee pads are not required but certainly allowed and encouraged.

It’s on! This camp will be all about the joy and safety of playing exhilarating games (dodgeball, capture the flag, elimination, and more) with Nerf guns. For example, you can try shooting at a target while sliding past on a Slip ‘N Slide. Come and join the fun!

Have you ever wanted to learn to shoot a bow and arrow? It’s a great sport and one that takes practice and concentration. This camp will develop archery skills and incorporate fun games and challenges to test your concentration and aim. Beginners or experienced archers are welcome.
