Our Board
The first Board meeting for the new year - virtually of course!
Introducing the newest members of the 2022 Board
by Andrew Grasby
As mentioned in my report earlier in the publication, your Board is looking forward to next year being a year of opportunity. We continue to plan for, and invest in, ways to improve service delivery and to increase member benefits through prudent budgeting and containing operating costs.
On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank everyone for putting trust in YOUR Association, to continue to be the professional organisation that we all need it to be.
I would like to recognise three years of service from outgoing Board Members Tyson Owen and Greg Carrick and give special thanks to Georgia Harper who concluded six years of service on the Board, three as our President, from 2017 - 2020.
On behalf of all Members, and the Directors who remain in service, I would like to welcome Ros McCully, Justin Hart and Ian Barker to the Board. Here is a brief introduction to them:
Ian Barker - Ian Barker Gardens:
When he's not honing his apiary skills or playing golf, Ian is passionate about giving back to the Landscaping Industry!
Ian experienced the satisfaction of helping shape the future direction of the industry whilst learning a tremendous amount from others during his time on the LVML Board in 2003 - 2007. He was heavily involved with the team that made building registration for our sector a reality and one that he and others are immensely proud of. "I believe that my time as a business owner has taught me much. There have been many who assisted me along my path in business, so I hope to now pay some of that kindness forward. I understand there is always so much to do, and I am keen to assist in any way I can."
Ian is looking forward to being able to influence the revenue side of the Association with a mission to increase revenue beyond membership and sponsorship to a point where there is no financial barrier for a landscaper to join.
Ros McCully - Ros McCully Garden Designs:
When she's not travelling (or busy planning to travel, as has been the case for the past 2 years!), Ros has been working for herself as a landscape designer and has been an active LVML member for 15+ years. She's attended numerous events, provided her services as a design consultant in the LVML dome at MIFGS as well as being involved in the show gardens themselves.
Ros feels it's now the right time to give back to the Industry by being on the Board. Her small business experience will add a different perspective to the Board and she's looking forward to the opportunity to keep on learning. "I feel it is important that by being on the Board I can be there to support many members, especially other Landscape Designers who are small business owners just like me."
Justin Hart - C. Fulton Pty Ltd
When he's not ferrying his young kids off to sporting events and spending some quality down time with them, Justin's now looking forward to giving back to the Landscaping Industry as part of the Board. "It's a good time to contribute: Fultons get a fair bit out of the Landscaping Industry so it makes absolute sense to contribute and work together to further strengthen the industry".
Justin is looking forward to work on increasing the involvement of women in the industry and to support the growth and legislation of industry standards. This includes the recognition of qualifications achieved through formal training and the necessity to have these qualifications to perform certain projects.
He is also keen to recognise and ensure greater participation of LVML within the construction industry and especially with the relevant government authorities.
