The Laws of Success

Dear Readers I’m very happy that you’ve picked up a copy of this magazine. It has been created by my team and me for people who want to grow and develop - every day a little bit at a time. Our libraries and the Internet are full of excellent, beneficial and interesting information about how to live a successful life. In this brochure I have compiled lots of outstanding strategies and principles of success for you – briefly and succinctly. I hope that these pages will become your companion in life and that you will keep studying the fundamental laws of success contained here. Look after this booklet well, it is like a treasure which can show you the way to your personal success. Anyone who has ever been to the gym knows that there’s little benefit in it unless you keep with the training on a regular basis. Many people attend seminars for personal development with utopian expectations. They think that with just one visit to a seminar they can acquire wisdom which will stand them in good stead until the end of their days. From my experience, this is not the case. Regular repetition is required because we forget quickly.

Just like your body, your mind needs to be fed several times a day with good, positive and constructive thoughts. You can keep recharging your batteries by relaxing every now and then and by using the methods described here. It is your life, and you determine your destiny by the way you live. Every day you decide to seize the chances and opportunities offered to you or not. I am convinced that every human being is a unique person with huge potential. Use your potential to create the life which you really want to live. Marcus Aurelius once said: “The way you wish to have lived at the end of your life, you can already live now.” I hope that you will find plenty of useful thoughts on these pages and that you will find them a source of great strength and hope. Regards

Stephan Landsiedel

What is Success?

Success means living according to your own visions. You are successful if you achieve what you want. For some people this means leading a quiet contemplative life, having a family, living in harmony and peace. For others it means expressing themselves through sports, journalism or business and leaving their footprints in the hearts of others. The facets of success are manifold. Success is literally that which succeeds, the reaction which follows on from an action. We must establish the source of our success ourselves, then we will experience the effect. Every one of us was born to be successful. We have already won the first race in our life: the sperm cell you evolved from was first to reach the egg, so your life already began with one resounding success! What does success mean to you?

Being successful in life means: “To laugh often and much, to win the love of children, to endure the betrayal of false friends, to leave the world a little better than it was before we were born into it, to improve the social conditions of a relationship or to help another human being to become healthier, to know even one life breathed easier because you have lived, this is to have succeeded! Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

Take Responsibility

As long as you always make others or external circumstances responsible for your life, it will be difficult for you to become successful. Free yourself from the idea that other people or outside circumstances are responsible for your well-being. You have the power to feel the way you want. You can decide freely for you and your life when you are ready to assume responsibility. Of course it is always easier to have a handy excuse to avoid having to take action oneself: „It’s someone else‘s fault!“ „I would have done it quite differently!“ „If I had more time/money, then …“ „If my partner hadn‘t …“ „If I had a better job…“ It is in your hands. It‘s your life. You are the creator of your destiny. Use your ta-

lents and give your life a meaning. When I was 17 years old, I was very unsatisfied with my life. I couldn‘t even see any point in carrying on. My girlfriend had left me, school was unrewarding and the idea of God that I had been given felt like a straightjacket. Yet, one starlit night with a full moon, when I could not sleep, the thought suddenly came to me that all my complaining, all my worries, were no help at all. And I realised that I finally needed to start doing something myself to make my life better again. At that moment I decided that I would never complain about my destiny again: I would become a creator. Today I call this the moment of awakening. It is a truly exhilarating moment in the life of every human being. For me it was a rebirth into a new life.

The Wise Man and the Bird There once lived a wise old man. It was said that this man had the answer to every question. Two young lads also heard this and decided to challenge the wise man. They would catch a bird and while holding the bird in their hands they would ask the old man whether it was still alive or already dead. If the wise man said the bird was still alive, they were going to crush the bird in their hands and show the old man the dead bird. However, if the wise man said the bird was already dead, they were going to open the hand and the bird would fly away. No sooner said than done. They caught a bird, approached the wise man and one said: „Old man, tell us whether the bird in my hands is still alive or already dead.“ The wise man thought for a moment, then he said:” The answer is in your hands.“ Tao story

The Law of Sowing and Reaping

A sower sows his seed diligently at the right time so that he can reap later. He cannot let the spring go by and sow his seed in summer or winter. There are certain times in our lives when we have to do something, in order to reap success later. There are people who would like to reap without having sowed. But this does not work in the long run. You cannot reverse the sequence. You need to get something going first, then you can reap the rewards. The wise sower knows that not every seed will grow. Some grains fall on rocky ground and cannot take root. Others are eaten by birds. He therefore scatters a great many grains. He just continues without complaining about the severity of his destiny. He knows that the more he sows the higher the probability that there will be some grains which will bring him an abundance of fruit. We invest time, money, energy in many projects but not all of them bear the fruit we wish for. Good strategies help ensure that many of our seeds take root and grow. After having sowed, the sower needs patience until his seeds bear fruit. He does not expect this to happen the next morning. Similarly, an entrepreneur also knows that it often takes years for his seeds to germinate, until his name is known, until he has a big network and his business brings him great rewards. It often takes year before a crop is ready for harvest.

The sower thinks carefully about which seed to sow He cannot sow wheat and expect to harvest rye. You cannot sow disputes and conflicts and expect love and friendship. Therefore, be careful what you sow because the seed could bear fruit both in a positive and a negative way.

First sow then reap. Spread diligently a lot of seed. Don‘t get discouraged. Be patient until the seed germinates. We reap what we have sowed.

Gesetz der Anziehung

We attract to us the same things we are involved in. Like attracts like. The universal law of attraction states that all things which I send out will return to me. Every energy and every thought which you send out into the universe is attracted by you again and will come back to you. So concentrate your spirit on things which you would like to have and you will draw these into your life with great power. We are like living magnets and draw people, circumstances and ideas into our lives which resonate with our own thinking. If we are afraid and anxious, we will also attract fear and anxieties to us. If we focus on the nice feeling of having a lot of money then we will attract it. This law has been contained in the great teachings on wisdom for many thousands of years, yet only relatively few people apply it consistently. We can create ourselves. We can form our spirit and become the human being we really want to be. If we change our inner state, all external circumstances will change as well. Everything begins with our thoughts. What do you think about most of the time? What kind of energy do you send out? That‘s exactly that will come back to you. You cannot cheat this law. If you deceive other people it may sometimes go unnoticed, but the law of attraction will make sure it finds its way back into your life in one form or another. You have probably experienced some „strange events“ and believed they were coincidences. But they definitely were not. I used to have a business partner who was responsible for the office and administration while I was out holding seminars. One day I discovered several reminders for overdue invoices at the office. I was very angry and wanted to know why he hadn‘t paid the bills. He replied that the companies would send us at least a second reminder before taking any legal action. At that time customers also stopped paying our invoices.

„The law of attraction makes everyone of us to a powerful magnet which attracts more from that which we feel every moment.“ Ester and Jerry Hicks

Law of Attraction Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny. From the Talmud

Break your Mental Barriers

9 Dots Puzzle Connect the nine dots by drawing four straight, continuous lines that pass through each of the nine dots without lifting the pencil from the paper.

Famous Statements Some of these limiting statements come from highly respected personalities: „Everything that can be invented has been invented.“ Commissioner, U.S. patent office, 1899, Charles Duell

In order to solve the puzzle you need to think outside the box. Very often we block ourselves with our limiting belief systems.

„I think there is a world market for maybe five computers.“ Thomas Watson, Chairman of IBM, 1943.

„We don‘t like this kind of music and guitar groups are on the way out.“ Decca Recording rejected the Beatles in 1962.

The Elephants in India In India, young elephants are tied to a wood peg with a hemp rope. They keep trying to get away but failed. When they grow up they are still tied to a ridiculous wooden peg. They do not even try to break free. Only if there is a fire or some other danger do they panic and manage to get away. The same is often true for human beings. Only in times of crisis do we manage to initiate change.

„The horse is here to stay, but the automobile is only a novelty - a fad.“ President of the Michigan Savings Bank advising Henry Ford‘s lawyer.

„No, Sir. Maybe the Americans have need of the telephone, but we do not. We have plenty of messenger boys.“ Sir William Preece, chief engineer of the British Post Office to Graham Bell.

Leave the Past behind You

Leave the Past behind You Free yourself from the patterns of your past. Overcome your barriers. If you say and believe: „I cannot,“ then you really cannot. Our thoughts determine what comes true for us and what does not. To this effect thoughts are truly powerful forces. As a child or teenager there were many things you could not do. Now, as an adult, it is time to say: „Yes, I can if I want. I decide to lead a life of happiness and wealth. I will spread my wings and rise like an eagle.“

Live in the Present Your life takes place today. The past is over beyond recall and yet many people still spend a lot of time brooding over it and being annoyed. Often it helps to ask oneself: What will I be thinking about this in one or in10 years‘ time? If the answer is „I will have forgotten it!“ then forget it now and focus on the moment - on the NOW. You can still create the NOW and build yourself a tomorrow which is worth living. The unfulfilled yesterday will only consume your energy. It deprives you of your focus on things which you really can change.

„Look to this day, the very life of life. In its brief course lies all, the realities and verities of existence, the bliss of growth, the splendor of action, the glory of power. For yesterday is but a dream and tomorrow is only a vision. But today well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.“ From the Sanskrit

Chicken or Eagle? An egg fell out of an eagle’s nest. A farmer found the egg and placed it with the hens‘ eggs, hoping that the hens would accept the eagle chick and raise it. Indeed, the hens did just this and he grew up among them thinking he was a chicken. During the day he walked around pecking at the ground for worms and grain, and like the others he occasionally fluttered a short distance through the air to the next fence or roost. Time passed and one day the eagle chick looked up and saw an eagle majestically wheeling high in the sky. Full of admiration, he asked the other chickens who that was. „That is the eagle, the king of the sky!“ „Wouldn‘t it be beautiful to be able to fly like he does, free and without limits?” asked the eagle chick dreamily. But the other chickens replied: „No, we can never do that because we are just chickens and chickens cannot fly like that.“ And so the eagle lived just like all of the other barnyard chickens till the day he died, thinking he had only been a chicken on a farm.

The Subconscious

The Iceberg Model

Our subconscious has an almost unlimited processing capacity. It can execute many thousands processes at the same time. This is where our memories and learning experiences are saved. In countless situations, a negative selfimage anchored here can cause us to limit ourselves and not live to our full potential. It is like driving with the handbrake on. If you don‘t release it then you will keep hitting the iceberg under water time and spring a leak.

Positive Thoughts Thoughts influence our body. Positive thoughts make us more relaxed and focused. They can even stimulate the release of endorphins and trigger feelings of happiness. Therefore, think positive constructive thoughts as often as possible.

Our mind can be compared with an iceberg. The upper visible part is our consciousness. With that part we can consciously make decisions, we can think, choose goals, etc. It represents approximately a sixth of our potential. The much bigger part under water is our subconscious. It controls countless processes in our body around the clock. We do not need to worry that our heart beats, our lung breathes and that food is being digested. It happens automatically.

Be aware that nobody can dictate to you how you should feel. It is your decision. Nobody can force you to feel bad or think in a negative way. Use your thoughts in order to influence yourself positively.

Visualisation/Imagination You should imagine the things you want to attract into your life often and picture them intensively. As you do, imagine that your wish is already fulfilled and you have achieved your goal. This spiritual perception is the anticipated truth. It enables you to create a picture of the truth inside you. So concentrate your entire imagination on the things you would like. Let a burning desire arise within you. It is important not only to see the realisation of your wish but to feel it as well.

Positive Self-Influence

Affirmations Support the pictures and feelings using affirmative and approving words. Autosuggestion is an effective form of self-influence. It consists of formulaic wordings in the first person which help you turn your wishes into reality. They should be short and concise, and formulated as active constructions. In addition, they should be appealing and attractive to you. Take a little time to write your own affirmations. You will actually find it quite good fun! Example: I am determined to use my chances and opportunities in life. I look forward to every new day, as it provides me with opportunities for self-realisation. I love my work and it benefits many people. I am a powerful force for the good and I will always give my best with enthusiasm. I am a leader and I am going to create wonderful things. My imagination is developing more and more as I do so. I love my life.

Avoidance of the Word NOT In case of affirmations please do not use the word ‚not‘ or a related word. Always make sure you use a positive formulation. You’ve probably heard the example: Please do not imagine a pink elephant with a band-aid. In order to comply, you would need to imagine the elephant first and then delete it from your mind. This is not helpful. Try not to formulate phrases like „I don‘t want to have any more headaches“. This sentence contains a negation, too. „I am free from headaches!“ is not much better for the term headache is still included. A better version would be: „I am healthy and happy. My head is free and clear.“

Aladdin‘s Magic Lamp Once you succeed in getting the powerful forces of your subconscious to work for you, you can achieve boundless wealth and great happiness. Like a treasure chamber, your subconscious is full of the most magnificent riches. You will also be able to find a magic lamp like Aladdin‘s. Rub it, call for a mighty spirit and command it to give you the things which are really important to you. If your wish is honest and sincere, you will raise forces inside yourself you did not even know you possessed. Like a powerful genie of the lamp these forces will start working to overcome all obstacles and bring you forward a bit every day. The genie will say: „Your wish is my command!“ Therefore, think carefully what you wish.

Action Guideline 1. 2.

3. 4. 5.

Repeat your affirmations three times a day if possible. Work intensively with an affirmation for at least 30 days before you move on to another one. Say your affirmations out loud. While doing so, imagine the pictures and feelings that go with it. Create the vision as emotionally and in as much detail as possible.

Master your Time

Urgent and important: 4 Quadrants The principle of the four quadrants is a refinement and complement of the Eisenhower principle by Steven Covey. 100%

For many people time is a bottleneck on the way to one‘s own personal success. People say „Time is money“ meaning that time is something precious for us. Time cannot be increased or preserved - money can. When our time is past, our life is over. Therefore, we should handle our lifetime carefully and use it wisely. Every person has the same amount of time in which to do something with his or her life.

Efficiency and Effectiveness Sometimes we confuse efficiency and effectiveness. We are effective when we do something which helps us to achieve our most important goals. Some people throw themselves into things and try to do a lot of things all at once. They seem to be efficient with the use of their time but they may be working on the wrong goal and achieving nothing.

Many tasks which were not urgent before will arrive here after some time if they were not duly taken care of. This often causes feelings of stress. Quadrant II – Tasks (not urgent, but important) are the critical tasks. This is where you decide your fate. In this quadrant we find learning, development, designing long-term concepts, planning and structuring. Quadrant III – Tasks (urgent but not important) are e.g. phone calls and advertising mail we are not interested in. Nevertheless, they suggest urgency and become time killers. It is best to delegate such tasks. Quadrant IV – Tasks (not urgent and not important) are best reduced to a maximum of 1%. The completion of these tasks does not really bring us forward. Sometimes this area is also called file 13 - 13 meaning the wastepaper basket.

Time Management

Pareto Principle 80 : 20 Rule

Quiet Hour

The Italian economist and sociologist Vilfredo Federico Pareto (1848-1913) formulated the Pareto Principle, which was named after him. According to this principle, we could achieve 80% of the results in 20% of the time. In other words, to be perfect (achieving 100%) is extremely expensive in terms of time.

For every day, plan a quiet hour for you in which you can deal with Quadrant II tasks. This is the most important hour of the day for your success. During this time set your goals, plan your time and the steps you will need to achieve your targets.

80% 80% 20% The principle is often used in other contexts, too, e.g. 80% of sales can be generated from 20% of the customers. “It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much. Our time is partly robbed, partly taken from us and what remains is lost unnoticed.“

Give yourself at least one hour per day to sharpen your saw.

A successful American investment advisor was on holiday on a small island. On the beach he saw a fisherman lying under a palm tree. He approached him, said hello and asked the fisherman if he had caught anything today. „Yes“, the fisherman said, „a gorgeous fish.“ The advisor was excited and proposed to advise the fisherman free of charge. „So, why are you not out at sea right now catching another fish?“ the advisor wanted to know. „Well“, the fisherman said, „the proceeds from the fish are sufficient to buy enough food for today and tomorrow. So why should I catch another fish?“ „In order to save some money to be able to buy a bigger boat soon with which you can catch even more fish.“ „And then?“ „Then you can open your own fish factory in due time and become a millionaire.“ „How long would that take?“ the fisherman asked. „About 10-15 years.“ „And then? What would I do then?“ „Then comes the best part!“ the advisor answered. „You can go to the stock exchange and sell the firm.“ „And what is the point?“ the fisherman wanted to know. „Well“, the advisor said, „then you are rich, you can sleep long in the morning, you can take a siesta with your wife and lie in the sun a lot.“ „But that‘s exactly what I do already!“ the fisherman replied.

Work-Life Balance

Tips for Work-Life Balance • Maintain a healthy balance between your work and your private life. Don’t take your job home with you and don‘t go to bed worrying about work. • Define clear values and goals for your life. That way you will realise quickly when you are out of balance for too long. • Take a professional timeout on a regular basis - either as a sabbatical or a holiday. • Do not neglect your friends and family. • Follow a balanced diet and eat without stress. • Take regular breaks. Every 90 minutes our organism needs a break of approximately 20 minutes. You can use this time creatively by listening to music, doing something nice, reading a book or simply taking a walk. • Be active, do sports and look after your body. Use the stairs, do stretches and incorporate small exercises in your daily routine. • Remember to plan time for yourself to do things you enjoy. In future we will be working longer. The pension system will not work the way is has up to now. The most precious capital our country has are its educated people. This precious good will be used for as long as possible in future. For this reason, new work time models are becoming increasingly important, e.g. sabbaticals (timeout, usually 3-12 months) or part-time work. As a result, we are forced not to postpone our until we retire but to regard work as an area which accompanies us all our life. There will be more people who are are prepared to accept a lower salary in favour of a more satisfying job.

Take time ... 1.

Take time to work, it is the price of success. 2. Take time to think, it is the source of power. 3. Take time to play, it is the secret of perpetual youth. 4. Take time to read, it is the foundation of wisdom. 5. Take time to be friendly, it is the road to happiness. 6. Take time to dream, it is hitching your wagon to a star. 7. Take time to love and be loved, it is the privilege of the gods. 8. Take time to be friendly, it is the road to happiness. 9. Take time to enjoy, it is the reward of your acts. 10. Take time to plan, it is the secret of being able to have time for the first nine things. Irish poem

Knowledge and Education

In the 1970s the French economist Prof. Georges Anderla (1921-2005) investigated the rate of development of human knowledge. He defined the volume of knowledge for the year 0 as 1 in order to have a standard size. From his research he concluded that knowledge had about doubled from the year 0 to the year 1500. It had doubled again by the year 1750 (i.e. after 250 years) and again by 1900 (after another 150 years). Further two-fold increases occurred to 1950 (after 50 years), 1960 (after 10 years), 1967 (after 7 years) and 1973 (after 6 years). Accordingly, in 1973 the extent of human knowledge was about 128 times greater than in year 1. Anderla‘s work was taken up and continued by several scientists. According to the philosopher of science Robert Anton Wilson, knowledge doubled in the 1990s every eighteen months. This would mean the volume of knowledge today was 250,000 times greater than when Jesus was born. No single individual can remember such an enormous amount of information. The world has changed dramatically where knowledge and education are concerned. Even the biggest libraries in the world only contain a fraction of the knowledge everyone has free access to on the Internet. Today, access to knowledge is possible for almost everybody. The problem now is more one of finding the

information we really need as quickly as possible in all that tremendous amount of knowledge. Here, the search engine Google is of immense practical value, and as a result has become the most successful company in the world in my opinion. Please note that the core service (searching the Internet) provided by this gigantic benefactor is free of charge. Information about classifying information can be more valuable today than the information itself. Even renowned scientists spend more than 10 hours per month searching for documents and notes which they filed themselves. The Institute of the German Economy in Cologne found out that the state spends more than €65,000 per pupil up to the time they receive their university-entrance diploma. The amount increases to approximately €112,000 up to graduation from university. These are our greatest 250 000 national assets.

Development of Knowledge

„I know that I know nothing but even that I don‘t know exactly.“ Sokrates (469-399 B.C.)

In an Information Age

Using Knowledge Knowledge is Power In today‘s age, the most important power source is specialised knowledge. Numerous books, audio programmes, videos and seminars with the best knowledge are available to you. Everybody can use this knowledge. It is freely available. However, knowledge alone is of no advantage. Only by using it do we become successful.

Lifelong Learning In the course of a lifetime more knowledge will be gathered than was available to all the generations before us. New demands will be placed on us. After our education we will be forced to keep training and to continue learning throughout life, so it is worth acquiring good learning techniques in order to learn much with pleasure and enthusiasm.

Work on your ability to use this knowledge in a practical way. While you are unable to do this, your knowledge is dead knowledge and it is not much use to you. When you read a book or listen to an audio programme, keep asking yourself: „How can I use this?“ or „Which current project can I work on better, more elegantly or faster with this knowledge?“ If you just absorb the knowledge, you will have forgotten most of it very soon. This knowledge will get dusty. Information which you really implement and use will remain with you much longer and will bear fruit. Which area of your life would you like to improve? Choose the relevant books and audio books and study them. As soon as you have found an aspect you can use, do so. Do not wait until you have finished reading the book: put the aspect into practice immediately. Do not wait until you can do something perfectly. Just start. You do not need to put all the information into use. In a good book you will find hundreds of ideas. If you only use three of them, then the book, audio book or seminar was still worth it. Sometimes you will find new ideas in the same book at a later point in time. Sometimes it is useful to read a second or third book about the same topic, as the examples or the author‘s style can give you more inspiration to transfer the relevant suggestions into your life. If a book is written so theoretically that there are no ideas you can use, then just glance through it and put it aside. There are plenty of other books which will be of practical benefit.

„Small differences in your knowledge and performance can lead to large differences in your results.“ Brian Tracy

Four Principles of EKS

Success through Strategy Success in life depends to a large extent how humans use their energies and opportunities strategically. In the 1950s, the system researcher and cyberneticist Prof. Wolfgang Mewes from Frankfurt (Germany) was already studying the essential elements of a success strategy by analysing thousands of individual careers and company successes. He called the method he discovered Energokybernetische Strategie (Energocybernetic Strategy) or EKS, known today as Bottleneck-Concentrated Strategy). The goal of this strategy is market leadership.

...

1. Concentration instead of Dissipation EKS advises us to concentrate our forces on the most effective point instead of dissipating them. According to the legend this is what David the shepherd boy did when he brought down the giant Goliath with a direct hit to the head from his slingshot. Concentrating on a narrow area of expertise can lead to great success in a relatively short time. With every new project or order we learn something new. This reveals how the strategy conforms to the theory of evolution. All forms of life have specialised on gaps. Ours own forces need to be sharply honed in order to be able to solve the problems of the envisaged target groups in a deeper and better way. Many people‘s tools are also sharply formed to better overcome obstacles. The same principle is also true for social and spiritual forces. em

The critical significance of the concentration of forces was discovered by the military. A Greek general named Epaminondas is deemed to be the inventor of the oblique battle formation. Instead of placing his soldiers equally side by side, he formed a section of his men into concentrated wedge-shaped point.

With their help it was easier and quicker to break through the enemy lines and attack from the rear. In this way, a significantly better outcome could be achieved using the same number of forces. This small difference between the linear and oblique battle formation caused the rise and fall of world empires. With its help Alexander the Great defeated opponents who were vastly superior in numbers. In turn, the motivation, self-confidence and team spirit of his soldiers increased. Many people believe it is better to spread the risk instead of concentrating on only one area. For capital investments this may certainly be true but as a strategy for companies or careers definitely not. The opposite is the case. A famous example for diversification at company level is the acquisition of the office machine manufacturer Triumph-Adler by Volkswagen AG. The automobile company in Wolfsburg bought Triumph-Adler for 350 million deutschmarks. It invested 2 billion marks in the office equipment manufacturer before being freed from the burden by Olivetti.

Concentration of Forces

2. Minimum Principle When looking for the most effective starting point for using your own forces, the minimum principle is helpful. Search specifically for your target group‘s most important bottlenecks and problems. Once a central core problem is solved, numerous other problems will also resolve themselves as if in a chain reaction. As Philipp Carl Sprengel discovered when he researched the causes of plant growth, a plant requires a specific amount of a variety of elements. As soon as an adequate quantity of just one element ceases to be available, growth grinds to a halt. At this moment, the element concerned is known as the minimum factor. Once the minimum factor is added again, a new minimum factor may emerge and progress is made by overcoming one shortage only to face the next. This principle was further developed by Justus von Liebig, chemist from Gießen (Germany). The minimum principle has a twofold significance in EKS. On one hand, it is concerned with finding the client’s supply shortage and resolving it - on the other hand it is about identifying one‘s own internal bottlenecks.

3. Intangibles above Tangibles EKS teaches us that intangible factors (strategy, ideas, customer retention, innovative power, the attitude of employees and know-how) are much more important than capital. As you have already read, all tangible things were once intangible, starting off

as a thought or an idea in the mind of an individual. The idea was only later transformed into something tangible. Start with the intangible factors and you will have a huge influence over the financial, material aspects.

4. Utility Maximisation

better development

more freedom of movement

more liquidity

higher productivity

higher demand more economic benefit more attraction

more solvency

acceleration of the processes of learning

rapid cost degression

higher profit

People who specialise in a systematic way are able to activate a success cycle which can soon lead to greater utility. This in turn increases their force of attraction. Demand rises and they can offer higher unit numbers, increase productivity and accelerate learning processes, etc. Companies should focus their attention on the maximisation of utility and not profit. In this way they are forced to engage with their customers and not with themselves.

The most Beautiful Heart

One day, a young man stood in the middle of town and declared that he had the most beautiful heart in the entire valley. A big crowd gathered and everyone admired his heart because it was perfect. There was neither neither blemish nor flaw. Yes, they all agreed, it was really the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted about his beautiful heart. Suddenly an old man emerged before the crowd and said: „Well, your heart is not even nearly as beautiful as mine.“ The crowd and the young man looked at the heart of the old man. It beat strongly but it was full of scars, there were places where parts had been removed and replaced by others. But they did not fit properly and there were some frayed corners. In some places there were deep ruts with entire parts missing.

The crowd gaped at him: „How can he possibly claim his heart is more beautiful?“ they thought. The young man looked at the old man‘s heart, saw the state it was in and laughed: „You must be joking“, he said, „to compare my heart with yours. Mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears.“ „Yes“, the old man replied, „your heart looks perfect but I would never trade with you. Every scar stands for someone to whom I have given my love. I tear a part of my heart out and give it away and often they give me a part of theirs in return which fits in the empty space in mine. But since the parts are not equal I have some rough edges which I value very much because they remind me of the love that we shared. Sometimes I have also given a part of my heart without getting a part of the other person‘s heart in return. These are the empty ruts. Giving love can sometimes mean taking a risk. Even if these ruts are painful, they remain open and they remind me of the love I feel for these people. And I hope that they will return one day and fill the space. Do you recognise now what is true beauty?“ The young man stood still and tears ran down his cheeks. He approached the old man, reached for his perfect young and beautiful heart and tore a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man accepted the offer and put it in his heart. Then he took a piece of his old scarred heart and filled the wound of the young man. It did not fit perfectly since it had some frayed edges. The young man looked at his heart, no longer perfect but more beautiful than ever before because he felt the love of the old man flow into his heart. They embraced and went away, side by side.

Social Responsibility

Bank for the Poor In 1976, the economist Prof. Muhammad Yunus witnessed a serious famine in a village in Bangladesh and searched for a solution to improve the situation of those with the lowest incomes. He realised that many people only needed a small amount of seed capital to buy raw materials for their trades. Due to the lack of collateral and the relatively large workload involved in setting up small loans the banks did not provide the necessary funds so the people remained dependent on their commodities suppliers. Yunus started by lending his own money. This worked well and after being paid back he developed a system to enable the provision of small loans. Out of this project the Grameen Bank was founded in 1983. In 2006, Prof. Yunus was awarded the Nobel Prize. To date, the bank has provided loans totalling 6.55 billion USD. It has 2,468 branches and 24,703 employees. Today, the concept is applied in 60 developing counties. In over 30 years of business the bank has only been in the red in three of them. 98% of all loans are repaid.

„We are not going to be able to operate our Spaceship Earth for much longer unless we see it as a whole spaceship and our fate as common. It has to be everybody or nobody.“ Richard Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983)

I would like to share with you the knowledge presented here because I believe that you and all people on this planet have earned the right to lead a life full of happiness and success at the highest level. From the day you were born you have the right to be happy and wealthy. Develop your talents and abilities and use them for the well-being of everybody. Once you have full control of your life, you can start to make a real contribution and assume social responsibility. There are still people who are starving. Our beautiful planet is fighting against many challenges which are caused by human beings. We need more people to play their part. All great ventures begin within ourselves. Start to love and to forgive yourself then you will also be able to forgive others. The more people find their inner peace, the sooner we will find it on the outside, too. It is impossible to calculate your influence on this world. You can change your way of thinking and with it the entire planet. Live your life. There is a point to your being here. The world needs what you have to offer. Gandhi said: „You must be the change you want to see in the world.“ If everyone starts, wherever they may be, then together mankind will have a good chance of leaving our children a better world and to developing in unity.

At the beginning you will find an inspiring quotation, on this a short introduction to the respective topic and instructions for small exercises in each lesson. In addition, the e-mail training contains a metaphor and a book recommendation suitably for the topic. If you want to get into one of the topics more deeply, selected links offer you more detailed information through means of additional texts, pictorial material and audio files. In approximately every fifth lesson you can take part in a small testing on the Internet. The testings allow you to check your state of knowledge and to recognize possible gaps in order to fill them up. In this training program we consciously kept the theory phases brief and comprehensible. NLP is all about actions! Many small steps that you will go consciously, will lead you to your goals. Be aware that you have to take every single one of these steps seriously - so don‘t wait to carry out the lessons! Work on the lessons in the same week, in which you received them, and do not stop after the first week but continue every following week until the program is complete.
