In some projects on historical block protection, most of old buildings are well preserved. Thus designers only need to restore these buildings and plus some infrastructure.
However, in Beijing historical blocks, many old buildings, like Quadrangle Courtyard, have already been torn down and replaced with modern building.
Most designers choose to design archaized buildings in these historical blocks, but I wonder that it is not a good way to protect local history and culture. Personally, to protect historical blocks, we don't have to copy the form of old buildings, instead, we can design something more spirital, making people rethink of history and feel atmosphere of culture. archaized building

STAFFS' CAFETERIA RECONSTRUCTION
Experience & Exploration: Traffic Why Choose This Topic
STUDIO Solo work 12/2011 Advisors: Yang Lin
Because my home, Beijing, is one of the largest cities in China, containing thousands of mansions. So we can see that it will be a huge problem to meet those staff s' demanding of dining. Thus I decided to go to a typical office building and had a field survey.
I got these data by taking pictures, conducting questionnaires, talking with diners and cafeteria staffs. All the staffs have to bear crowd elevations, stand in a long queue , wait at peak times and endure lifeless and lightless environment. Thus I want to find a way to solve these problems.

I've seen many cases planting trees in buildings to improve environment, but I think that is not enough yet. We can see nature is full of vitality because it has both plants and animals. Based on the characters of office buildings, I want to design an artificial nest for local birds.Because there is no too much space for soil, I use soilless culture to plant herb and vine birds like.

Analysis of main problems In discussion, most my classmates thought that the problems of this area are the large number of students before and after class and the ordinary style of the LA design. But I think the vitality of this area is more considerable. solo space solution
Every day there are few LA students using this area so that teachers park their cars here. I think that the reason is the form of space.

solution
In summer and winter, there are a lot of rain and snows, but soil is still dry and plants here have to be irrgated regularly.
Forming
Base on my survey, most of students in our campus do not like the smell of outdoor rainwater pool, so I think that outdoor rainwater pool might influence the number of people who want to use this area. Thus I choose the second plan.

As a student major in la, this was the first time I participated in and finished a whole real urban planning project. At the beginning, I could not understand my project leader's project presentation, thus I studied hard and consulted other interns major in urban planning. In the end, I learned a lot of knowledges, cases and methods of urban planning and I could finish my work successfully. Here I choose layers totally finished by myself and do not select our teamwork including concept, general plan etc.

years history, while they had different name in different dynasty. Eight sights of Yanjing ,being different from ordinary landscape architecture, have large impact on culture and politics of Beijing; there are many mistakes and flaw in existing research; Eight sights of Yanjing are in danger of extinction. Thus it is valuable to study eight sights of Yanjing. I collected first-hand data by reading a lot and doing field research and analyzed them to support my research findings. First, I study the name and time of eight sights of Yanjing. Then, I study location, scale and scenery of eight sights of Yanjing in every dynasty. Based on
Ming dynasity A.D.1368~1644
my study, I conclude their traits and compare them with 'finding an excuse for scene'. What is more, I analyze eight sights of Yanjing in a new way named 'Landscape domain space'. Then, I compare and analyze real eight sights of Yanjing and eight sights of Yanjing in human's mind. In the end, I show some examples using eight sights of Yanjing and advice on protection and development of eight sights of Yanjing.
